as a fantasy writer every time i work on worldbuilding im haunted by my former urban planner colleague who once, upon my asking what the most important thing about city design was, quietly said, “where does the poop go?” Seaswept in TOWB has a rich history & meticulously chosen flora & a city designed at a tilted, downward spiral bc it’s been ruled by weather mages who call hurricanes & might accidentally drown their own ppl but I’ll forever be haunted by the fact i don’t know where the poop goes

cooking has been such a wonderful hobby to build, esp as an artist, bc cooking is all about failure but it’s so low stakes (for me) that i can scratch the same creative itch in my brain i do with writing, but instead of losing 500 hours to a bad draft i just like, burned an egg. writing a patreon post abt this rn, but i've noticed that whenever i'm on a deadline, i inevitably cook way more. i think esp if you are someone who creates in the Intangible, having something to do with your hands, that's low stakes, can be very grounding.
