The third hearing of the trial in which the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Central Council President Şebnem Korur Fincancı faces “making propaganda for a terrorist organization” charge is being held in the İstanbul 24th High Criminal Court. We are monitoring the hearing. At the first hearing, it was revealed that Şebnem Korur Fincancı was brought to İstanbul merely hours before the hearing and that she was kept in handcuffs throughout the transfer.

We are monitoring the hearing. 14 days after bringing the lawsuit in which he requested the dismissal of Şebnem Korur Fincancı and the council members, the same prosecutor indicted Şebnem Korur Fincancı with “making propaganda for a terrorist organization” on 9 November 2022.

The 3rd hearing of the trial in which 40 people, including journalists Muhammed Enes Sezgin, Sena Dolar and Kardelen Yoğungan face “defying the Law no 2911” charge is being held in the Büyükçekmece 10th Criminal Court of First Instance. We are monitoring the hearing. The prosecutor presented his final opinion. Arguing that the elements of the offense the defendants have been charged with did not occur, the prosecutor requested their acquittal.

Asliye Ceza Mahkemesinde görülüyor. Duruşmayı takip ediyoruz. Esas hakkındaki mütalaasını sunan savcı, isnat edilen suçun yasal unsurlarının oluşmadığını belirterek tüm sanıklar yönünden beraat kararı verilmesini talep etti.

The second hearing of the trial in which journalist and author Ender İmrek (@enderimrek) faces “insulting the president” charge is being held in the Bakırköy 44th Criminal Court of First Instance. We are monitoring the hearing. The indictment presents a column by İmrek titled “Türkiye yanıyor, saray izliyor [Turkey is burning, the palace is watching]” which was published on Evrensel’s website on 30 July 30 2021 and in which İmrek criticized the lack of response to the forest fires at that time.

The police has started taking the statements of 20 journalists and 2 media employees who have been held in custody since June 8th. They are expected to be brought to the courthouse tomorrow. #JournalismIsNotaCrime

All of the journalists' were asked to give their statements at the police station. Exercising their right to remain silent, the journalists refused to give their statements to the police on the grounds that both the detention and the investigation are unlawful.

-407 people who were tried in 47 cases monitored in February, faced a total of 74 charges in 14 different categories.

Journalist @SedefKabas has been taken into police custody over her remarks on @tele1comtr. It is reported that she was taken from her home at 2 am for "insulting the president."
