I apologize for not posting the agenda link for and for not live-tweeting tonight's BPAC meeting.

I was prepping for the vision zero presentation tonight and I forgot to do so. As for the live-tweeting, I needed to focus on what was happening for once. Since the meetings aren't being posted directly to Youtube and it won't be on @CMACTV's site until it airs live again in a few days. I'm going to provide a summary of what happened until then. (1/?)

If you care about making #fresno safer to Bike and Walk, the next BPAC Meeting starts in a few minutes!

Details⬇️ Sorry for the hold up, apparently a link wasn't sent out to the members and we are still trying to get people joined in.

On top of that, it looks like Melanie and Phil will be absent tonight. 😶😕

Still absent, District 5.

We barely have a quorem.

About that brainwave I had last week...

Apparently, I wasn't the first to imagine a revitalized Eaton Plaza.

In 2⃣0⃣0⃣4⃣, The Eaton Plaza Master Plan (EPMP) was adopted by the city of Fresno.

To this day, it sits on a shelf.

(1/?) The plan, which included paths surrounded by trees, a central water feature, and a pedestrian plaza for the County Library has mostly sat on a shelf for nearly 2 decades.

Based on local reporting in @FresnoBee , @FresnoAlliance ,and @Jamesinclair.

fresnogov2.webex.com/fresnogov2/j.p… Usually, I live-tweet during the meeting.

Since it's difficult for me to listen to what people are saying while typing out a tweet/screengrabbing/etc, I'll be tweeting a lot less than usual.

Attended a meeting of the @BetterBlckstone design challenge today and while it was definitely a very positive experience showcasing TONS of dense mixed-use development along Blackstone...I was a little upset there weren't any bus-only lanes in the concept art. 🚍

:/ One of the only pictures I took. To be clear, this is a design concept, nothing the city is considering for the real grade separation as far as I know.

The meeting link didn't past properly. Here's the proper link: fresnogov2.webex.com/webappng/sites… Sorry for the late start, had a water spill on my night stand.

@PhilArballo2020 joined the meeting to ask if anything was being voted on. Melanie Ruvalcala doesn't know, but will be voting on funding (Saftey Funds).

I'm listening in to the Palm Bike Path meeting right now. A few residents are in favor of it, a few are against, citing concerns about traffic overflow onto Van Ness Blvd, other streets.

Join the meeting: zoom.us/j/97375242264 Tony Molina from the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee is discussing the benefits of putting a class IV protected Bikeway on Palm between Dakota and Shaw.

On tomorrow's City of Fresno Planning Commission agenda, there is an item for a proposed Focused Infill (FI) Overlay District in Fresno's mixed-use corridors.

This is to "facilitate more intensive development."..."along transportation corridors in order to ... "
😲
(1/4) Image ...support transit use, housing production, and economic revitalization."😊

Wherever the FI Overlay District goes, there will be an increase in dwelling unit/acre.

The city of Napa has a quick explainer on how this is used:

Thursday's city council meeting has an interesting item, an update to Tutelian's proposed CVS Pharmacy Mixed-Use Development. There is now a plan for the Fresno Stamp Mural: a 4 foot 3 inches "viewing area" in the future parking garage.

Any thoughts/complaints?

(1/4) ImageImageImageImage This 510 space garage is part of a large mixed-use development that could bring 164 units of housing, a new CVS pharmacy, and a market space to Fulton and Tuolumne.

Note: the developer mentions that the planned 510 stalls is more than the 430 required by zoning.

Interesting Comparison, @Tower_District Olive at Wishon in Fresno with Pearl Street at 18th In Boulder, Colorado.

Biggest Difference: Boulder is considered to be one of the best places to bike in the U.S.

Yet, somehow these intersections seem almost identical... ImageImage 1. Bike Parking, Boulder has bike parking immediately visible at almost every corner, while in Tower, they are under trees, and are not so obvious to spot.

At least Tower's are purple and are custom made. 🙂 ImageImageImage

Nice video with retiring Clovis Planner Director Dwight Kroll. Although I disagree with a lot of how Clovis has been set up (lack of affordable housing, continued expansion outward, etc.) There are some cool projects he reflects on,

On tomorrow's city council agenda, there a Public Works request to Submit an $11,000,000 grant to the state. Among the projects are 2 Class IV bike lane projects. One temporary (Palm/Belmont) and one permanent (Clinton from First to Cedar) : fresno.legistar.com/LegislationDet…

(1/5) ImageImageImageImage The primary scope of the grant is to make the roads safer around Elementary Schools which is why several intersection improvements are included.

I recommend anyone in these neighborhoods go to eComment if they want to support any of these projects: fresno.granicusideas.com/meetings/383-c…
