For the millionth time:
a domain name is NOT a website
Just because you cannot see a website associated with "www.domain.whatever" does not mean it's "not in use".
If you don't pay for the renewal fees for "your" domain name it's no longer your anything.

Why on earth is the Irish government using a typo domain in .org instead of a .ie for their new covid cert thing? I'm impressed with how badly they messed this one up

So the Irish government used an American registrar to register the domain - thanks for supporting local business
AND seem to have paid for a proxy registration
