He keeps pushing the "affluent" thing but that's not true. We're paying dearly for this in every way. Having Guatemalan peasants to work in all the kitchens hasn't stopped food prices from spiralling, and certainly won't lower my taxes.
"Never consider the external or second-order costs of immigration" is basically the rigid dogma of an addicted & broken country at this point. I don't see a way out of this that looks like normal politics.

The struggle over ancient European genetics seems silly to me from a New World perspective.
In the New World, dozens of nations were formed thru major demographic overhaul within the modern era. These nations are perfectly legitimate.
In the Old World, the elapsed time since the analogous events occurred (there are many) has led many bright people to slide into the lazy, inaccurate belief that the legitimacy of a nation lies in the fact that the same bloodlines have resided there since a deeply ancient past.
