The Commerce Commission have just released the draft report into building supplies.
Clear that we have issues with our building regulatory system and competition in the sector that are currently preventing homes being built.
ComCom recommends that the govt make it easier to introduce new building products and reduces the amount of brand specification in consents. This is particularly important for new green or prefabricated products

1/ THREAD: The Coalition for More Homes is pleased to share our alternative Medium Density Residential Standards (MDRS). We acknowledge the bipartisan drafting of the Bill, something rarely done in Parliament. This is a strong acknowledgment of the seriousness the housing crisis. 2/ We support enabling 3 storeys everywhere allowing a range of typologies, and dwelling sizes, from smaller households to intergenerational whānau. This aligns with our ask to Auckland Council as part of their response to the NPS-UD.
