Our load: Fridge-freezer. Microwave. Iron. Washing machine. Kettle (with which we boil all the water we drink). TV. Sound system. Internet router. Laptops. Pumping machine. Light bulbs. We've never spent ₦10,000 on electricity bills in any month.

15 years ago, I was involved in a bad accident that left me having terrible episodes of pain. The doctors told me to make certain lifestyle changes. I did, so I don't have to live with pain. Don't copy someone's lifestyle if you don't know why they chose it.
There will be those who won't get it. I shared about the pain episodes with someone. She replied, "Maybe all of this is in your head. There is nothing wrong with you physically." I was seen by multiple doctors, including a top neuro-surgeon in the country. It wasn't in my head.

We live in a broken country, so everything is harder. This is why I can't blame anyone who wants to leave. But if you are here and want to succeed, you are already disadvantaged; you have to put in extra effort. The amount depends on you, but you will not excel being average.
And, even those who move to saner societies quickly find out that while things are easier there, life is still not a bed of roses. They often work multiple jobs and long hours to keep their heads up. There is nowhere in the world where success is delivered on a platter of gold.

People are shocked when I tell them the law does not recognize a "Mr & Mrs Tamedun" the way they think. Marriage does not make you one entity under the law. All joint documents must state both your names clearly or else the woman gets the short end. More people need to know this.
