This article is horrible - it tickles a lot of the background itchy thoughts I've been developing over the last few years - particularly things like reading a book being like running up a down escalator, and the lack of being able to get into flow states

theguardian.com/science/2022/j… One of the best things about the internet is the ability to have constant, instant interaction across a variety of niche/engaging things which once took days to update. Because of the Availability of Information I find myself flitting between projects/planning almost hourly,

1) Without naming names, a thread, about television. TV is probably one of the worst industries for this where the hours are just a given. I think we have 'officially' gotten it down to a 12hr day including one lunch, but that's not enforced, and it's a given you will do more. 2) That 1 hour lunch, if you're in the art dept as opposed to camera etc, you're not getting. You can eat, only if you work. Your commute is not part of that minimum 12 hour day so if you live an hour away from whatever location it is, well, tough (prod rarely pays accommodation)

Dwarf is up for a @BFDG_Film_Guild award tonight - slightly cruelly it's in the light ent category which belies the visual work that goes into S/F, but that's kind of the deal with a show that lives on a sitcom budget but tries to out-sci-fi dramas.... britishfilmdesigners.com/awards/awards-… And we are going to... So - I hope you enjoyed #RedDwarf - as promised… here’s how the art department did all that. I’ll be doing these tweets in the order that we shot it, as opposed to story order, as that makes it easier to explain how things went together. Let's get out there... and tweet it. I started this the day I wrapped Fast 9. Literally packed my desk on the Monday morning at Leavesden, drove 22 minutes to Pinewood, and started on Dwarf, with 2 weeks before shooting. The first day was going to be filming in Starbug.

Hope you enjoyed #Bodyguard! We're two eps in now, so I'll do my usual non-spoilery breakdown of some of the graphics that go into making a show like this... Firstly, police shows require: a Police force. I designed a generic crest for our force, including different colourways to work on uniforms, paperwork, screens, etc, as well as the warrant cards. The crest was extruded into 3D and printed to create the badges for the wallets.
