SECOND DISTRICT ACTIVITY:  On 02/26, Second District SIS detectives received a tip about a missing person. The caller said that her stepdaughter, who had been missing since 2017, contacted her and was currently being held against her will at a motel in Inkster MI. 1/ Social media graphic that says Second District advisory During the course of the investigation SIS and TAG (Trafficking and Abduction Group) detectives were able to learn that the victim was being held at the Evergreen Motel in Inkster. 2/

Trooper 2 was flying during a joint training exercise with the Oakland Co. Sheriff's Department Aviation Unit. 1/ Patrol Activity The Tactical Flight officer (TFO) observed a green laser pointed at the aircraft.  The TFO was able to identify the residence as well as the specific window where the laser was emitted. 2/

Metro South troopers were dispatched to a single car crash and car fire. 1/ Traffic Crash Banner ***Preliminary Investigation*** revealed that a 20 year old driver from Lincoln Park was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, hit the center median, and struck a light pole. Synopsis:
While on patrol a sergeant was informed by the Detroit Regional Communication Center of a “Be on the Look Out” for a suspect in a assault with intent to murder out of the city of Southfield. 1/ Patrol Activity Approximately 40 minutes later the sergeant located the suspect vehicle on Grand River near W. Grand Blvd.  The description and registration plate matched the suspect vehicle given by Southfield PD. 2/

Troopers were requested for traffic control along I-75 near Belford Rd. as a precaution in the event that a runaway cow managed to escape and run onto I-75. 1/ A team of wranglers
comprised of men and women comparable to the cast of Yellowstone attempted to wrangle a cow that was stuck in a gravel pit on Belford Rd. Troopers stayed on standby to stop traffic on I 75 if necessary. 2/

Narcotics Investigation: On Monday, March 13, the County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) and St Clair Shores Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in the City of Detroit.  1/ Image Discovered during the search was over a kilo of fentanyl, 85 grams of crack cocaine, one semi-automatic pistol and $4800 in US currency.  The kilo of fentanyl had been divided up into doses of .1 grams and packaged separately in lottery ticket folds for individual sale.  2/ Seized narcotics

Traffic Crash/Felonious Assault:

Synopsis
Preliminary investigation, subject to change, revealed that two drivers were involved in a crash. After the crash they both got into an argument with each other. 1/ ImageImage One of the drivers then fled the scene of the crash. The other driver had a relative come to the crash and was waiting in their car for a tow truck. The driver that left the crash came back to the scene and fired several rounds into the relatives vehicle. 2/

A Metro North trooper was investigating a blocking crash when the driver of a passenger car was driving too fast for conditions and failed to move over. 1/ Traffic Crash Banner The at fault driver lost control and side swiped another vehicle. That vehicle was pushed into the rear of the patrol car and then continued and struck a fourth vehicle. 2/

Death of Departmental Canine/ Traffic Crash: On 7/25 at approximately 1:05 AM, a MSP Canine unit had S/B M-10 & Linwood closed due to flooding. The patrol car was positioned across all lanes of the freeway ramping off traffic. The freeway had been closed for several hours At approximately 1:05 AM, the canine unit activated his emergency tone and advised he had just been hit.  The trooper advised the suspect vehicle was also in flames.  Detroit Fire arrived on scene and began treating the severely injured passengers of the suspect vehicle.

Weather Update: Troopers were dispatched to northbound M-10 and M-8 for several vehicles rolled over.  Troopers made contact with an off duty fireman who advised he observed a tornado at this location.  drain the water. He stated an unconfirmed tornado picked up two of the vehicles and flipped them over.  Detroit Police also have several trees down in the area off the freeway.

Road Rage Shooting: Final Update for incident that occurred on 7/23. The suspect, a 19 year old male from Troy and his girlfriend, a 16 year old from Sterling Heights, were interviewed at the post. Further information revealed that the suspect cut off the tow truck and the two began road raging.  Due to the slow traffic, the tow truck driver got out of his vehicle and began screaming at the suspect.

Patrol Car Struck: On 7/24 at approximately 2:15 AM, troopers
were on the right shoulder of southbound Southfield and 7 Mile Road investigating a crash. While sitting stationary (emergency lights activated), another vehicle failed to move over and struck the driver’s side of the patrol vehicle.  The driver continued driving from the crash.

Freeway Shooting Update: Special Investigation Section Detectives and Metro North Troopers were able to identify the suspect for the shooting that occurred on I 696 this afternoon. The suspect vehicle was located parked at a residence on Scottsdale in the City of Troy and set up surveillance. A search warrant for the residence.  The Emergency Support Team was activated.

At these centers are representatives from FEMA, U.S. Small Business Administration, Michigan State Police and other state agencies. These agencies are available to explain disaster assistance programs, answer questions about written correspondence and provide literature about repairs and rebuilding to make homes more disaster resistant.

Road Rage Shooting: On 7/23 at approximately 2:35 PM, troopers were dispatched to westbound I696 and Coolidge for a road rage incident. Image Preliminary investigation revealed that a tow truck driver stated that the suspect driver of a passenger car was unhappy he was in the way and the suspect driver shot out the back window of the tow truck and fled the scene. No reported injuries.

Report of Shooting: On 7/23 at approximately 8:35 AM, troopers responded to the westbound I-96 local/express ramp near Southfield for a possible shooting. Image Preliminary investigation revealed that a driver of a Dodge Charger was traveling in the local lanes of I-96 westbound near Southfield. He stated that he was taking the ramp to W I-96 Express after M-39 when his front passenger window was “blown out”.

Road Closure: I 96 Express / Schaefer/ Grand River Detroit
 MSP 911 received multiple 911 calls about a possible shooting taking place on westbound I 96. When troopers arrived they located four victims with injuries on both the east and westbound sides of 96 Express. We will update as the scene gets sorted out. We will be closing EB and WB 96 for investigation

Semi Roll Over: On 02/22 at 3 10 PM, troopers were dispatched to the Ramp from WB I-94 to SB I-75, City of Detroit for a rolled over semi. Investigation revealed that a semi hauling 38 cows had lost control and overturned. Troopers are waiting for another livestock trailer to arrive on scene that is responding from Albion.  Once the additional semi is on scene, they will cut the trailer open and begin to off load the livestock.
