BREAKING: Derek Chauvin, the ex-Minneapolis Police who killed George Floyd, has been arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington has announced. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, who has the authority to bring criminal charges against Derek Chauvin, will hold a press conference at 1 p.m.

I’ve been in great shock since I heard the news of Hodan Naleyeh’s killing in an explosion in Somalia.

Hodan was an incredibly talented, creative, down-to-earth journalist who single-handedly tried to change the racist media narrative around Somalia and Somalis. Hodan was supportive, inspiring and a great role model. Her killing has shocked nearly everyone I know who has been following her work. What a tragic loss! May Allah grant Hodan a place in Jannah.

BREAKING: Mohamed Noor, a former Minneapolis police officer who killed a white woman, was found guilty of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Noor, who's Somali, is the first police officer in Minnesota to be convicted of an on-duty shooting. We can't ignore the racial dynamics in this case. It took the killing of a white woman in a white neighborhood in Minneapolis for prosecutors to charge a black officer who is an immigrant and Muslim.

BREAKING: A Minneapolis FBI agent who started his career with the agency as an intern in 2000 has been charged with leaking classified information to @theintercept. mprnews.org/story/2018/03/… Terry Albury is the second person charged for leaking secret documents to Intercept. In June 2017, an intelligence contractor was charged with leaking a classified report about Russia's interference in the 2016 election to the Intercept.
