I've been sitting with all the emotions that come from unrelenting attacks on our civil rights, bodily autonomy, and physical safety. How do you cope with anxiety and depression when it's the world that's the problem? Acceptance and Commitment Therapy concepts are helpful here.
ACT teaches us to be mindful of ourselves in relation to the world and to BE PURPOSEFULLY PRESENT through 1. Accepting our reactions and being present 2. Choosing a value-centered direction 3. Taking meaningful action
This doesn't happen naturally. It's a conscious process.
