All I can say is that SARS is not disturbing us in the North. SARS sounds more like a Southern problem. Let's start the diagnosis from there. I smell a brewing micro-scale apartheid system in Nigeria where some section of the country is specially targeted by SARS, to subdue them. Whenever I meet SARS officials here in the North, I always experience a form of courtesy bothering around reverence. And I'm wondering, is it thesame SARS? I do not agree that people should have the freedom to malign, insult, denigrate or speak unacceptable things about the faith of others. Free speech is hinged on mutual respect and the avoidance of incendiary utterances. But, I also don't agree that MURDER is the solution.

In Civilised climes, protest is a valid & effective form by which Citizens express their discontent with Gov't. This is not the case with Africa.

Peaceful activists like Saro-wiwa were murdered. Once the Niger Delta Youths became restive, they were invited to the dinning table for discussions. Now, there is relative peace.

Southern Kaduna Crisis:
First hand information reaching us is very embarrassing and saddening. Nothing is as difficult as preventing State-sponsored terrorism. Even the hands of the State Governor seems to be tied-(Re:Benue).
Advise: All grievances should be channeled to Abuja. The Governor has no direct control over Police or Security Agencies. However, the least we expect from him is to be PROACTIVE like Governor Suswam of Benue was when his people were being killed. This is necessary even if it translates to a question of his loyalty to the "Powers."

There should be a specially commissioned research to understand the reason why the North is prone to unwarranted and illogical violence. Could it be as a result of the violent nature of the imposition of Islam by the Fulani dynasty?

As far back as the late 16th C., the Sultanates of Gobir, Kebbi and Zamfara had practised Islam, with fairly stable political systems under the Habe Rulers. Of course, they conducted raids, took slaves & warred with each other. But they had local mechanisms to manage conflicts.
