My daughter had a non-covid medical emergency last night. Thankfully she didn’t require immediate surgery and we think she’ll be okay. We tried urgent care. They said it would be a 2-hour wait because they were full. We called Prisma’s MD360. They said the same thing. We called the children’s hospital at Greenville Memorial and were told they didn’t have any beds available and had a full waiting room. My wife and daughter went back to urgent care. Due to the nature of her injury - bleeding inside her ear canal - they told us to go to the ER.

I’m not going to pretend I have all the answers to journalism’s ongoing crisis, but I do know that without your support, local journalism will wither away until it barely resembles the institution that holds powerful accountable & tells its community's story.
