Patriarchy is a system of society in which men hold power and women are excluded. Smashing the patriarchy is not beating up fathers. Just so some understand.
Women also participate in upholding the patriarchy because there are gains to be had in any system of power if you help the side that actually holds the power. It’s much easier to go along.
