Our latest report shows how anti-oppressive pedagogy increases hostility, distrust, and punitive attitudes—escalating tensions instead of fostering inclusion. These teachings appear to be doing harm. 🧵👇 (2/7) Together with Rutgers Social Perceptions Lab, the NCRI conducted a three part study looking at the effects of anti-oppressive framings widely used in DEI materials across multiple identity frameworks (race, social hierarchy and religion). We show these framings cause extraordinary psychological harm.

🚨 Key Findings from NCRI’s Amsterdam Pogrom Brief: On Nov 6-7, tensions between Maccabi TA fans and pro-Palestine activists escalated, leading to mob violence in Amsterdam. Despite advance warnings, local authorities did not intervene.

PGNL, led by organizers including a former UNRWA affiliate, explicitly coordinated the protests online in the hours and day before via social media and messaging apps

An accurate warning issued by Israeli authorities assessed an "extremely high" level of risk.
Organizers of the violent demonstration included 6 Dutch pro-Palestinian groups active on Instagram.

One if not the ringleader of the violence was the PGNL, a Dutch Palestinian community group with a nationwide presence and cross-platform social media accounts.

With the largest data driven characterization to date at the time, The NCRI warned platforms, the international association of chiefs of police and federal agencies of the imminent insurgent threat of the Boogaloo-reported in the Guardian today.

theguardian.com/world/2021/jan… NCRI topic networks from over 100 million comments, depict the Boogaloo as an apocalyptic militia which has been incredibly prescient. 4chan and other extremist communities fantasize of a mass, violent civil war with RWDs (right wing death squads) and ANTIFA as far back as 2019.

The NCRI finds large increases in antisemitic disinformation now trending across social media sites, including Reddit and Twitter (below, NCRI seeking to fill data gap now). In a report from last Dec, NCRI finds that antisemitic disinformation reliably emerges during episodes of critical vulnerability for democratic societies - from state actors, extremist and conspiracy communities - conjoining together to amplify the signal, like a fever spiking.

THREAD:

NCRI is finding evidence of planning behind the recent storming of the Capitol Building. Evidence includes this image, found on Facebook in groups with over 150k followers, the Trump Train in late Dec. Posts were also detected on Twitter and 8chan. Analysis from NCRI shows simultaneous increases in related hashtags on Twitter suggesting wide adoption of the coded operation.
