Wow, this is big news for UI/UX. PlayStation 5 will use the X button to confirm by default for ALL REGIONS including Japan, who previously used O to confirm for the past 26 years. Muscle memory frustration for the nearly 10M PS users in Japan coming up.
famitsu.com/news/202010/04… In Japan, the "Circle = Good, OK, Correct" symbolism has been common knowledge for many decades. When designing the original PlayStation controller, it was likely that the placement of the O/X were hence made to match the Super Famicom's A/B, and were utilized similarly.

The Japanese audience would waaaay more prefer that western game developers perform *proper JP localization* (with no mistranslations, overtranslations, incorrect glyphs, mood-spoiling ugly fonts, etcetcetc) than to quibble over whether Japan is portrayed “properly” in a game. Seriously, we don’t care about “proper” portrayals when we ourselves create games based on battles in Japanese history where samurais fire laser beams and you attack giant enemy crabs’ weak points for massive damage. On the other hand, PROPER JP LOCALIZATION matters!

Press event currently underway announces the founding of the VRM Consortium, to promote the VRM open humanoid avatar definition format created by Dwango. The VRM format defines not only glTF-based model/texture data, but also avatar-specific elements like head removal while using the model first-person, and Creative Commons style machine-readable usage conditions with relevant clauses like "Who may perform/act using this avatar?"

When playing Wipeout Omega Collection via the PS4 Remote Play app, the L1/L2 buttons and R1/R2 buttons seem to somehow get reversed; L1 and R1 now act as airbrakes in the default button mapping instead of L2/R2. Where do I report this? @clever_beans @AbVault @SonyXDevEurope For reference, this has been happening with the last few versions of both Wipeout Omega and the PS4 system software. Once it happens, the button flip seems to persist even when going back to local gameplay.
