Pretty amazing that a press corps that by their own admission failed so miserably in 2016 by asymmetrically holding one (woman) candidate to a high standard while holding Trump to a very low or no standard - are doing it all over again.

He literally owned up to election interference. Any major coverage? Naah. You would think they’d have figured out that “balanced” coverage means the constant liar gets normalized but you’d be wrong.

I am honestly shocked that Senate Republicans tanked a bill that helps veterans get the health care they need from exposure to toxic substances out of sheet pettiness that Democrats can pass another bill. Like how will that make sense to any veteran or anyone else? Now after voting for the Chips bill they want house Republicans to vote against it, though not on the substance. Just pettiness.

Honestly, is there anything worse in politics than hurting veterans or stopping American jobs because you didn’t get your way on something else?

I'm still pretty jazzed about the Supreme Court's decision on the ACA. I'm going to share a story of why it matters so much. Thread: I worked my heart out to pass this bill in 2009- 2010. I defended it from various attacks. In 2017, we thought Trump could kill it. I helped organized the campaign to stop his repeal effort. We held rallies, organized people around the country. After a rally at the Capitol,

The entire reason I am who I am today is because a group of people rejected Trump's thinking here. This is so enraging.I'm going to share my story.
When I was 5 my parents divorced; my father left. I'd grown up in a middle class town, Bedford, MA, and we had to leave our house. My mom had to go on welfare - she was an immigrant and had never worked outside the home. So we didn't have a lot of options. But really fortunately for us, MA had created a program --if people set aside some housing for low-income people in suburbs, they'd get subsidies.

My friends, we've been through a lot over the last 4 yrs and now we are just 100 days out from the election. He's going to get worse - like a cornered animal, he will lash out. We need a massive wave to defeat him. I ask you to do something every day for the next 100 days to win. You can reach out to your whole network to get them registered, and then ask them to get others registered. Here's a site that can help: vote.gov

My statement on behalf of CAP on the Roger Stone Commutation
"While Trump ignores the pandemic ravaging our country, he always makes time for corruption to save himself and his cronies. And while he denounces peaceful protests demanding the simple right to live equally under our justice system, he has made clear once again that he thinks his rich, corrupt circle of accomplices is above the law.

For years, President Donald Trump has dangled a pardon for Roger Stone to prevent him from telling what he knows about Trump’s betrayal of our country in 2016.

I need to say this about the daily Trump presser: He’s handled this virus with monstrous incompetence. But every day he fights with a reporter and liberals get sucked into the drama. It’s like we are the Romans duped into watching the gladiators fight as Rome collapses. He craves Our attention. Lives off of it. Turn the pressers off. Listen to Cuomo if you need a leader to reassure you. Get the news from press reports. But. Turn. Off. The. T.V

2020 is finally here -and I'm going to try to do something new: turn my twitter feed into a channel for activism to defeat Trump. We need to turn our rage tweets into political action. In 2018 we won because people started engaging early, over the entire year. I'm going to share ideas of how to engage starting now in the defeat of Trump -- I will do that all throughout the year. I will also try to connect folks to the right people to plug them in to activism. The Dem party in every state should already be registering voters.

In 2016, I was on this website as some on the left shredded Hillary in ways that I believe ultimately weakened her in the general. Everyone said it’s a primary so it’s ok. Now as we hit the heat of the primary, many people are gleefully doing it again to multiple candidates. Any candidate can be criticized. And some actions-like defending a dictator who slaughters children-is beyond the pale. But the personal assaults on candidates reminds me of 2016. The mainstream Dems running are not equal to Trump, none of them. Try to remember that.

I have some thoughts on this good NYT piece on the health care debate in the nascent Dem pres primary. First, there's no tradeoff between universal health care and not ending employer-sponsored coverage. nytimes.com/2019/02/02/us/… Indeed, CAP's Medicare Extra for All plan does exactly that: americanprogress.org/issues/healthc…. Would have been great for the authors to mention this proposal, but c'est la vie. But it's a false choice to say that there's only one way to universal health care and it's single payer.

We have a 100 days until Election Day. To each one of my followers, I ask you to engage directly with your time and energy into these midterms. Imagine if Trump keeps the House? He will be incredibly emboldened: ACA gone, immigration laws changed forever. It's unacceptable. So I'm asking each one of my followers in joining me to take action in the midterms. Find your closest race and engage. There are House races throughout the country. If you live in a state with a Senate race, please help. Dems can take the Senate back, but it takes all of us.

Dear Followers,
The midterms are the most important of my lifetime. If the GOP win, even worse will happen after November. So I'm going to use my twitter feed in a new way: to push people towards not just voting, but activism & volunteering ahead of the elections. If you have q's about what you can do, tweet them at me, and I'll try to connect you to folks to engage you. If you have pictures phone banking, door knocking, tweet them at me,I'll try to retweet. Let's get everyone we know in every state to vote. Our futures hang in the balance
