Women and children detained in immigrant holding cells along the U.S. - Mexico border are regularly forced to sleep on the floor in cells so cold, agents refer to them as “freezers," according to a new @HRW report.
Detainees described being forced to remove layers of clothing for “security” reasons, and sleep with just a thin, Mylar blanket, like this, to keep them warm at night.

Morning! Today, @guardian reports that Samarco, the mining company responsible for Brazil’s Fundao Dam disaster, was aware of the threat six months prior to the incident and failed to take action, leading to the country’s worst environmental disaster.

We’re back to Israel, where today new footage of the killing of Palestinian citizen Yasin al-Saradih emerged, showing Israeli soldiers shooting, beating and dragging him before leaving him without medical attention for 20 minutes.

Educators in West Virginia are letting the governor know that, despite his wishes, the #WVTeacherStrike is not over. Last night, on the 4th day of the #WVTeacherStrike, @WVGovernor announced that teachers would receive a 5% pay increase next year, and all state employees would get a 3% raise. Numerous news outlets reported yesterday the Parkland shooter was a member of a white supremacist organization. We decided not to report it because we felt it was suspicious, and it appears our suspicions were warranted. Here’s what happened. The first site we saw reporting the claim was the Anti-Defamation League, which quoted a white supremacist named Jordan Jereb. Jereb says he is affiliated with a Florida hate group called the Republic of Florida.
