Beware people who say "the Bible" or "the Constitution" or any culturally significant document is a "living" document.

It's a major red flag that they intend to warp the authority or influence of said document for their own gain. "But Jesus didn't say anything about xyz" doesn't mean that Jesus condoned or condemned xyz.

It just means we have no record or information on His opinion or teaching on xyz.

So, while we're on the topic of racism against Asians, let me reflect over my life a few key times I have experienced racism in my native Atlanta.

(Thread.) When I was young, I grew up in a predominantly Latino neighborhood.

Elementary kids are, well kids, so of course, they would single my (quite possibly the literally only) Vietnamese friend and I and just call us "chino co chino".

As a kid, it felt like bullying. And it was.

Currently sitting in the ATF's WebEx for the "CRIME GUN INTELLIGENCE STUDENT INFORMATION & RECRUITMENT SYMPOSIUM" and people have shown up dressed from suits to polos.

meanwhile i'm sitting here in my John Jovino Chinatown gun tee (why don't I have a DD tee yet?!?) So one of the hosts, really seems impassioned about making a difference in communities. Shame that he works for the ATF...

If there's one thing in our gun culture I wish would go away about us Vietnamese-Americans, it's the whole "the trees speak" and insinuating every Vietnamese-American that participates in gun culture is channeling their inner Viet Cong. We're not communists. We're *definitely* NOT VC's. Stop drawing forest caricatures on us just because the Communist Vietnamese fought with different tactics than the Republicans / American forces.
