As we stumble/trip towards the upcoming vacation next week, let me encourage you to do a little pre-work around Thanksgiving.

1) If you haven't yet gotten around to having the "Real Thanksgiving" talk with your kids/family now is a great time. 2) I, too, am grateful for this break. So how might you celebrate? Because gratitude isn't a waste.

We've ordered dinner from a local black-owned and run vegan restaurant (so excited), and will take a break.

Folks who aren't as familiar with academic systems might be like "What is there to strike about?" There is *deep* inequity in our universities. What grad employees are required to do and what they are paid can be *all over the map*. Some students are paid half what others are paid. Some students are paid for teaching. Some are paid for their research. Differing fields have wildly different standards and expectations.
