Just got an update locally on @NHSDigital 's plan for prospective notes access from November.
The summary?
They haven't put in place any of the tech required to make this work. That being, you know, their job. 1/n
Every practice in the country has to change a setting in the clinical system for this to work, or they're in breach of contract.
They claim "70% of practices are engaged"- because they've attended one of the webinars. Nonsense stats. 2/n

Oh dear. NHSE's latest wheeze to prepare for winter is here: england.nhs.uk/next-steps-in-…
Spoiler: it's even more delusional than usual. 🧵1/n
First problem: it opens with the lie that they've tackled the 104-week (you read that correctly) wait list. That's an achievement akin to saying you've successfully tackle the problem of people over 120 years old waiting for hospital appointments, and it's also not true. 2/n

Having slept on the appalling decision by @NHSEngland to reward #Capita's unbroken track record of failure by extending their contract, this needs called what it is: an unelected and unaccountable quango doing the indefensible. 1/n
Capita have failed patients, for more than a decade, most glaringly by mishandling the cervical screening programme, and thereby failing 40,000 women. bbc.co.uk/news/health-46… 2/n

The talk of "surge hospitals" is ridiculous. (1) "Beds" are not useful if you're sick. You have a bed at home. (2) You need a "staffed bed", and here's the problem. (3) There aren't enough staff for the existing beds.
1/n(4) This is not a new problem. @NHSDigital publish data on it: digital.nhs.uk/data-and-infor… (5) It was 8.4-9.3% through 2017, i.e. five years ago, and is only marginally better now despite multiple "initiatives" to address the issue. This is a failure of government. 2/n

Throughout the vaccination campaign, we've had messaging on significant, complex changes to who we need to vaccinate and how delivered not by @NHSEngland to those doing the work, but through the media to the public. 1/n
Major things - changes in who can safely have which jab, when they're eligible, how long between doses - stuff which requires enormous amounts of work to change. 2/n

Bored of lockdown?
Yes, so is everyone else. However, you still need to be at home.
COVID-19 has plateaued. That means your risk of catching it now is still effectively the same as it was at the peak, and has never been higher. 1/n
Obviously, and more importantly, your risk of passing it on to someone who's vulnerable is also about as high as it was at the peak.
The police need powers, now, to issue spot fines to anyone breaching lockdown or being selfish and irresponsible with others' safety. 2/n

Hi @nhs_pensions - couple of cases for you relating to GPs' type 2 pension forms processed under the current amnesty, please.
If they show a member has underpaid their employee contributions (e.g. because their tier was wrong), they then owe arrears. 1/x
These arrears are owed to the scheme, but have arisen because of the chaotic administration of GP pensions by PCSE, and are not the fault of the individual member. If a member owes £2,000 per year for the last ten years, that is £20,000 in total. 2/x
