Time for a fact check!

In the interviews I've done with ex-Blizzard employees that worked with Mark, he was literally laughed at for this, and had nothing to do with WoW Classic aside from the petition.

The server was originally shutdown because they were offering paid subs. Image The devs of this server had already met with Blizz previously to discuss if they could find a way to split the money with Blizz in which Blizz would run the accounts (subs) and the devs would pay for the servers.

It was this meeting where Blizz decided to work on classic servers

I'm still digging into @Grummz and Em-8er obviously, but I wanted to do a little fact check on him for the public.

He claims the IndieGoGo campaign was for Milestone 3 funding ONLY, and not the full game. He says that campaign is complete.

It is not. He is lying again.

A crowdfunding campaign IS NOT COMPLETE until you deliver everything you got funding for, including stretch goals.

He raised money from people on the expectation that these things would be in the FINAL FULL GAME.

I don't know how I can make it clearer that he duped backers.

I’m going to make this very clear since you’re trying to paint me out as a liar in multiple places.

YOU posted very public statements about your feelings towards Kern and his IndieGoGo campaign.

Anyone can see those. I have shared statements YOU made, multiple times.

You are now running around to delete all of those statements, which were detailed in your issues with Kern and his campaign, and smearing me to discredit the reporting I’m doing.

You made public statements, you don’t just “retract” those without people asking questions as to why

I think my favorite thing about Mark Kern is that his third failed game, Em-8ER, has an option to buy "founder's packs" for up to $1500 (!).

His little army that wants him to be the savior of games would milk them for all the money they've got.

Image Remember all that digging I did back on The Day Before?

Yea, I like this sort of work.

It just keeps getting more and more interesting the more you dig on obvious fraudsters!

It's ever so amusing watching people rally around Mark Kern, who can only talk about his past because the only thing he contributes to the games industry now is... nothing.

His legacy is Firefall, a failed MMO that tanked his studio, and now spends his days on Twitter faffing. Image Guy hasn't been working in games since 2017, was voted out of his OWN company, and the people that follow him think he has any authority?

Just another dope looking for relevance and he got some of it back when he made a viral tweet about Starfield's menu lol.

Laughing stock.

If you needed any more indication The Day Before is a scam, the CEO of FNTASTIC has nuked himself from Twitter. Image And the website has been quickly nuked as well. This is all you'll find now. No way to even contact the studio. Image

Remembering today that we won't have any God of War coverage at launch because Sony PR said they didn't like our "tone" last year, so I stopped requesting copies from them.

First time I had ever had that happen in 14 years of working in games media, and it felt real icky. We don't need the review copy or anything, it's nice to have to get coverage out on time, but not fully necessary with how we do coverage.

But having PR dictate what's acceptable tone felt like I was supposed to grovel for review code and I'm not doing that (obviously).

Since a lot of new people are following me over this, just to be clear I do not want to be involved in industry drama, nor do I often take part in it. Today's thread wasn't about me, but it's the third time in a week I've seen people that are positive influences dogpiled. I don't even know any of them personally, I just follow good people. I don't have anything to gain from calling this out, I'm just tired of seeing it, and I think I'm in a position now that I feel comfortable having a say, even if Jason doesn't know "who" I am.

Welp, now I'm gonna say the quiet part out loud. Schreier is toxic. For all the good reporting he does, if you get another angle on his story, or have a critique of him, he sends his followers to dogpile you and paint you as not credible. Only HE is credible, according to him. I've heard enough stories over the years and seen how he treats people in the industry to feel fine putting this out there. He's a gatekeeper to media, he doesn't support anyone but his friends and is more than happy to have his fans attack anyone he disagrees with.

This is a good read that reflects a lot of @Harlack and I's upcoming discussion about some of the same subjects on The Escapist Show episode coming up this weekend. pastemagazine.com/games/cyberpun… But it's important to note that for as much as we can advocate for this stuff on social media, once again, it's a bubble, and a much larger percent of people buying and playing games pay Twitter 0 attention, or know anything about the labor practices happenings at these studios.
