I am getting a lot of responses to this doing the exact thing it is responding to, so maybe I should elaborate further. Nobody who could do anything about this is interested in understanding and taking it seriously, which is precisely why they are in danger: Image This is no hypothetical. Classes of left-wing revolutionaries turning their grievances into violence is actually something that has famously happened many, many times. My advice to reactionary governments in ALL those cases would be not to ignore potential revolutionary classes. Image

Whether tariffs are good or bad depends on who you are. Outside the worm-eaten brains of economics professors, a lot of things really are a zero-sum game. But whichever side you fall on, it is unquestionably the act of a mythical figure. Tariff thread: Disclaimer that I am economically illiterate. Finance and economics is one of those fields, like sports, computers, and modern physics, where I do not have my own intuitive sense to analyze how it works and what is true, and have to plagiarize the opinions of smart-sounding Jews.

The poor believe that the virtue of the rich is a byproduct of their arbitrary fortune. The rich believe that their fortune is a byproduct of their individual virtue. In fact, both are wrong. The overwhelming superiority of the upper class to these vermin, in natural ability, in virtue, and in every "head start" in capital, education, and connections, is the self-perpetuating product of good breeding:

A Joker sequel fundamentally doesn't work. The haunting beauty of the talk show scene in the first film was all about the raw, awkward difference between how a guy who tries to "act like the Joker" imagines things will go in his head, and how it comes out in reality. Image It was haunting because it felt so *real.* The gods of dialogue writing, soundtrack & plot armor that rig every interaction the Joker has with other characters to make him cool and smooth in TDK are absent, and we see how cringe a REAL Joker would be: like irl Ledger imitators. Wait, there are still people who think Biden won? This is why it's important to stay up on election night and follow it live, or you'll come away assuming it's a normal "Republicans complaining about the margin of fraud" situation rather than something unprecedented.

It is worth remembering that many progressive dogmas now embraced wholeheartedly by conservatives originally were such "polite fictions." Everyone who wasn't a lunatic communist knew the open secret that human groups didn't *literally* have the same expectation of achievement... ...that poor kids weren't just rich kids with less, etc. Human equality was a polite fiction, which most people knew wasn't literally true, but rudeness was uncivil, unfairness to exceptions was uncivil. So it was one of those things that you didn't talk about in polite company.

Franz von Stuck - Die Wilde Jagd (1889)

The same year Hitler was born and Nietzsche went mad, the German painter Franz von Stuck painted this depiction of the ancient Germanic god Wotan.

I wasn't planning to write a Barbie thread because there is so much similar attention on similar aspects of the film, but I'm bored so I'll summarize my thoughts anyway. Thread on this sublime feminist tragedy: (1/82) On the most shallow surface level, there is of course the joyless Ben Shapiro takeaway: it is a very overtly feminist political screed, hateful, anti-human, against male existence as object, against female existence as subject, unconcealed bitter solipsistic sexual narcissism.
