I can't speak for Senator Hawley on anything, and I would never try to defend/explain anything he is doing. I would have voted for McCaskill, so just to be unequivocal about this, I'm a hard pass on all things Hawley.

Ok, to get to the substance of the question: Conservative thought has become this toxic mixture of wanting to both leave everything to culture and markets while simultaneously manipulating and controlling markets and being pissed about not being able to do the same with culture.

I'd like to amend this motion under a broader umbrella: respecting workers as humans. What does that look like? 1) Allowing people to work where they work best when the job is not about coming to a physical place to greet and serve customers or to make an actual thing.

With the obvious caveat that everything is awful and I would not choose it, here are things I hope to maintain when they are no longer necessary:

- waiting in my car instead of a reception area
- enthusiasm for short day trips in my own state
- remote board meetings - genuine responses to "how are you?"
- taking walks whenever I feel like it
- a general sense that human beings are entitled to a little space
- pervasive generosity about response times, typos, attitudes, and fatigue
- greater attention to the Governor than the president

A few people have asked for tips on WFH for organizations with very little experience with remote work. Let’s discuss. First and above all else, you must trust your people. Don’t set tight expectations for response times. Don’t tether them to instant messaging. Don’t expect them to immediately answer the phone.

This is such an important and hard question. I think my third line is something like this: "Ok. Do we believe that we can treat people any way we want to because they have broken a law? Does it matter to you what kind of law? /1 If you were driving your children around on an expired license, should the police be able to take you to jail and put your kids in foster care?

These questions matter because "illegal" does not solve the problem. Lots of things are illegal.
