@Dave52411051 @CJQueen777 @leftie0 @InspiringPhilos In the Hebrew Bible some Davidic kings had in their court a gebirah ("Great Lady") who was often their mother, and held great power as his advisor and an advocate to him. @Dave52411051 @CJQueen777 @leftie0 @InspiringPhilos In 1 Kings 2:20, Solomon said to his mother Bathsheba, seated on a throne at his right, "Make your request, Mother, for I will not refuse you." William G. Most sees here a sort of type of Mary.

@MargoCatholic Because they haven’t discovered @JimmyAkin3000 yet. @MargoCatholic @JimmyAkin3000 I think Catholic apologetics is having a resurgence as people are discontent, rejecting modernity, and seeking the biblical, and traditional faith of Christianity.

@smashbaals “The term Judeo-Christian is used to group Christianity and Judaism together, either in reference to Christianity's derivation from Judaism, Christianity's recognition of Jewish scripture to constitute the Old Testament of the Christian Bible, @smashbaals or values supposed to be shared by the two religions.”

@YoungAtheist0 The serpent in the Garden of Eden isn’t a typical snake in the animal kingdom. It’s translated for from the Hebrew word “nahash” and means something more like “shining one.” In the Book of Revelation it refers to the same “ancient serpent” as a dragon.

@goyabeangroyper @ElijahSchaffer The Star of David is a Christian symbol. @goyabeangroyper @ElijahSchaffer The star consists of two intertwined triangles: one pointing up to God and the other pointing down to man, symbolizing the relationship between the two—"the interpenetration of two realms" (source: Franz Rosenzweig, Star of Redemption, 1912).

@tristanbard0516 Fascism at its core is leftist. The founder of fascism condemned American democracy as “selfish” because it promoted individualism. @tristanbard0516 The ideological father of fascism was Giovanni Gentile, one of the most influential philosophers of his era. Though he was “the Karl Marx of fascism,” his name has effectively been buried.

@pearlythingz 1) Correct information versus religion is a false dichotomy. You have an high school atheist’s level understanding of Christianity.
2) There is a distinction between religious marriage (holy matrimony) and state marriage (legal contract.) @pearlythingz True conservatives understand the difference between religious and state marriage. They also understand that the government corrupts everything which is why they want to limit its power. You’re a college liberal who became red pilled. You don’t understand politics or election.

@nosoup4knowles We are on a treacherous precipice, more treacherous than we could possibly imagine. You know, we do have an authority crisis, take your pick, whether it’s parental authority, marital authority, political authority, academic authority, or ecclesiastical authority. @nosoup4knowles Do your own analysis and assessment. You know, if we look at the the leading cultural indicators, of the past thirty years, population has increased forty one percent, gross domestic product has increased by three hundred percent,

@ButtercupPB @AntoNelloDaMe10 @TheSurvivors_US If you watched the video, you probably would have agreed with everything she said. It seems like you’re just inflamed by the language of the threat of a mother’s life because you’ve heard so much abortionist propaganda. I’ll explain it you. @ButtercupPB @AntoNelloDaMe10 @TheSurvivors_US The first point, ectopic pregnancy is not an elective abortion, because once a child gets stuck in the fallopian tube, it cannot survive. All the video does is describe what is and isn’t an abortion.

@FreddieFishFin1 1A slave could voluntarily decide to stay as a slave (Deut. 15:16-17).
2When a slave was freed, he was to receive gifts that enabled him to survive economically (Deut. 15:14). @FreddieFishFin1 3A Hebrew slave could become free after six years of service (Exodus 21:2; Deut. 15:12), released during the year of Jubilee (Lev. 25), by marriage of the master’s son or if refused was then set free (Exodus 21:7-11), due to injury (Exodus 21:26-27),

@RationalPanthe1 The universe is finite, and therefore cannot be God. God is defined as the uncreated creator. The universe had a beginning, according to philosophy, and science. The universe consists of energy, matter, space, and time. @RationalPanthe1 Therefore, God must be immaterial, spaceless, timeless, and enourmously powerful.

@hookskat Trying to understand Christianity, without learning even a little bit of basic philosophy, to help you think critically, and logically, about your faith, sounds like a guaranteed way to lose your faith. God commanded us love him with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. @hookskat This is greatest commandment, according to Jesus himself. Failing to love God with our minds seems like a guaranteed way to abandon him, in my opinion. And it seems like a huge problem in the modern American church, especially the evangelical Protestant church.

@hookskat It’s good that you’ve studied the Bible. That doesn’t necessarily imply that you understand it. This is why the Catholic Church has a magisterium and tradition to help us understand scripture. @hookskat As for, C. S. Lewis, and Lee Strobel, those are hardly who I would personally recommend if I wanted to learn to about Christian apologetics. Maybe as an introduction, or for a teenager in high school.

@hookskat Again, God, the uncreated creator, isn’t “a god,” a deity, or created being. This distinction is extremely important. I’m not sure if you’re conflating these definitions intentionally or not. By what standard would the divine hiddenness of God be irrational? @hookskat In order to call something irrational, you need to have a perfect standard of rationality. “A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line.” What are you comparing your idea of God to when you call him irrational?

@Lilith_Atheist “Most scientific and technical innovations prior to the Scientific Revolution were achieved by societies organized by religious traditions. Ancient Christian scholars pioneered individual elements of the scientific method. @Lilith_Atheist Historically, Christianity has been and still is a patron of sciences. It has been prolific in the foundation of schools, universities and hospitals, and many Christian clergy have been active in the sciences and have made significant contributions to the development of science.”
