Today my 18yr old son saw the colour orange for the first time in his life. Rather emotional.

Little thread about it. My wife first noticed he was colourblind as a toddler when he couldn’t understand why his brother and sister got angry with him for taking their particular kiddie chairs. They all had different colours, but looked the same to him.

Bridges comms team seem to be really fucking this up. Attacking a popular (polls suggest over 80% agreed) policy of lockdown that has been demonstrably successful makes no sense.

Here’s how I reckon Simon should have handled this: Firstly, acknowledge how well NZ has done. Acknowledge that we have a chance to lead the world in this fight, and don’t pepper the acknowledgement with a silly barb of criticism. Now isn’t the time.

We are in this together as a country, criticising the lockdown criticises us.

This is awful. And I’ll tell you why I think this.

Last year a mate who is a plumber moved to Hamilton. Started a new business up there. He got a client who is a property manager for a number of overseas investors. No idea where from, doesn’t really matter. He said the state of disrepair of these rental properties was appalling. And there were lots of them. Hundreds just with this one property manager. His brief was to do the absolute bare minimum repairs required. He asked the property manager about this.

Went to a bit of a soirèe last night and got to chatting with an American chap who now lives in Wellington. We’ll call him Tim (well, that was his name after all).

Sorry, small hungover thread. Tim told me every time he goes back to the States things have been getting worse. But that the last time he’s noticed discourse is now rock bottom. You are either for or against Trump. There is no middle ground.

Many years ago I was with a large party at a Chinese restaurant. My wife ordered crispy duck but my order never arrived. By the time they realised I was no longer hungry but I asked them instead to teach me how to make the crispy duck (it was incredible). Thread. They took me out the back to meet the chef and he took me through it. To this day I have still never made it.

Crappy weather on Wgtn anniversary day so I figure, today is the day. I’ll take you guys through it. Started off last night by putting the fuck in a marinade.
