This has always been the case though. Relocation is extremely hard for anyone but particularly harder for African immigrants- financially, mentally, emotionally on top of all that is the stress, language barrier, racism & discrimination but eventually, circumstances push you. There is nobody in the world just wakes up and decides to throw their lives, family, friendships, connections et al away to start afresh from ground zero, sometimes negative zero sef.

At just 28, Fedorov was made minister in the newly created Ministry of Digital Transformation. Since then, he has tried to run his ministry more like a startup than a stuffy government agency... | Meanwhile, #Nigeria is banning Twitter.

restofworld.org/2021/inside-uk… In May, the Ministry of Digital Transformation held Diia Summit 2.0, where the department launched digital services that included being able to register as an individual entrepreneur, register your place of residence, and file and pay your taxes online.

Another example of how we know that decisions made by unis are not exactly data driven particularly as this decision borders on discrimination (what does “quality students” even mean?!). Interestingly, this initial deposit was €1.5K before it was reduced due to the #Covid19. Image #Nigeria & #Cameroon are the top two countries in Africa with students in N.Cyprus. However, look again, Cameroon is nowhere close to Nigeria. So what happened to all the other countries in-between? Are they all “quality” and how was the measured?

#Twitter says I have been here for 11 years since 2010. (Just wondering if I can add that to my CV though?)🙂 Image In 11 years, I have tweeted on a very diverse set of subject areas: Water quality & policy (sometimes referred to as Water Law)- I used to want to work in drafting and implementing water laws/ polices to ensure fair, equitable and sustainable use but Nigeria sha. lol!

“Turkish foreign aid to North Cyprus: mother's grace or curse?” Conclusion: the aid does not contribute to the development on its own. In addition, the total level of investment in aid does not contribute to growth. Cc @GazeddaKibris

gazeddakibris.com/imf-turkiye-ra… The aid increases the “dependency” and reduces the possibility of the North Cyprus to stand on its own. He also states that it is mostly used as a foreign policy tool. It is clear that aid dependency cannot be used to create a strong economy.

What is clear is that this is a well-regulated industry in #Greece generating at least 15.6M EUR YoY for the govt but what is not clear is whether being a surrogate mother is restricted to greek citizens or not or immigrant women with permits are allowed to be surrogates as well. As an aside what would a surrogate industry look like in Nigeria/ North Cyprus? Is it something a govt should promote? Should Adoption & Immigration processes be strengthened instead or surrogacy? Outside the initial financial benefits, what are the possible issues with this?

1 in every 6 couples in #Germany are currently unable to have children. #Watch The business of fertility – egg donation and surrogacy in Europe: Egg donation & surrogacy are illegal in Germany but also a lucrative business in other parts of Europe (I would imagine eastern Europe particularly). I wonder if this business model already exists in Nigeria and what the position of the constitution is.

I have always wondered why the international student community in North Cyprus, especially the African one doesn't have a lot of communities for growth and development like LYDA, SMW, TEDx, The platform et al we have in Nigeria. The initial thinking is that it is prolly due to the intl embargoes on the island- and this thinking holds water until you realize that some unis used to host TEDx talks as recently as 2014. So the embargoes aren't exactly a reason.

I didn't share this. I made the list. :-) Forgot to share this. I recently was shortlisted among 80 Africans from 15 countries to co-author the second edition of the @TheAfrica80 book- “80 Faces; 1 Book”. My Chapter focuses on some of the challenges facing Africans in the Diaspora and how they can be solved. ImageImageImageImage

An interesting angle on the fertility crisis | “As most demographers have warned, a society weighted too heavily with an older generation will have devastating economic consequences.”

Its a real full time job, lol.

Wifey and I try to do a small number consistently (like 5, 7 or 10 applications) a day so it doesn't take up the entire day. Also, we try to filter out (valid) rejection reasons so we avoid such openings next time. Finally, we look out for the most recurring job roles on a job site/ area/ state or country. That gives you an idea of what jobs are readily available and how your skillset matches up. It can be hard to keep going after so many rejections so it helps to have a friend to rant.

I am thinking to do a thread of the wildest things that happen in northern #Cyprus universities.

Very crazy stuff! 🤣🤦🏾‍♂️ 1. A student had 100% scholarship. Between the dept handling the scholarship and the finance dept, one didn’t notify the other before the registration period expired. So the student got charged by the school for late registration fees and interests on the debts accrued. 🤦🏾‍♂️

@BayoOlorire I smiled as I read your tweet and remembered when I felt this way as well, once. The frustration that ran amok in my bloodlines as a demanded answers from God. I was mad with anger, how dare he?! 🙈😂 @BayoOlorire I think you first need to understand what your definitions of “more” are, alongside “success” and “prosperity” and “making it”. The earlier in your life you can clarify your definitions correctly especially as a Christian, the easier your path will be and the ligter your steps.
