Yes, I'm a progressive, queer Methodist. No, I find no joy in the impending split or the pain of being pushed out that traditionalists are feeling. It's the same ache of spiritual homelessness that queer Christians have felt for generations. We know that pain better than most. It's a hard pill to swallow that LGBTQ+ inclusion must apparently come at the exclusion of other people of faith. This has never been the goal. The goal has always been to gain recognition of our spirituality, inextricably connected to our humanity. No body without the breath.
