My girlfriend broke up with me last night, the strangest part? She acted like we had never even met

I thought it was some kind of sick joke. I called her, she picked. 'Who is this?' she asked. I laughed nervously. Very funny, babe. She went quiet. 'I think you have the wrong number.' Then she hung up
My stomach dropped.
I checked our texts, gone. Our photos together, gone. Her Instagram? Still active. But no trace of me. No couple pictures, no tagged posts. Like I had never existed in her life.
I texted my best friend, James: 'Bro, what's going on? Did Emily say anything about breaking up?'
His response made my blood run cold. 'Who the hell is Emily?'
That didn’t make sense. James knew her. He’d met her dozens of times. I sent him a photo of us from last Christmas. He replied immediately: 'Dude… this is a pic of you alone. Are you okay?'
"I ran to my closet, digging through old things, searching for something anything that proved she was real. And I found it. A small heart-shaped locket. A gift from her on our first anniversary. Inside was a picture of us. Together.

I got a wedding invitation today.
No big deal, right? Except… the bride is my ex, and the groom? Is a name I’ve never heard before. But something about him feels too familiar.

We broke up two years ago. No calls, no texts just vanished from each other’s lives, and now, out of nowhere, this! The most outrageous part is, the wedding location was somewhere I’ve never been.
Yet, somehow, I knew it. I almost tossed the invitation in the trash.
But then I flipped it over, and scrawled on the back, in her handwriting, was a single line: 'Please come. I need you to remember.' I should've ignored it, but something inside of me burned with curiosity like a memory I couldn't access.
So, I drove. The venue was three hours away, deep in the countryside. And when I arrived… I felt like I’d been there before."
The wedding was beautiful, but something was off. No one I spoke to remembered meeting the groom before. No childhood stories, no family members, just a man who seemed to appear out of nowhere and then he saw me, and froze. The moment our eyes met, I felt it. Déjà vu. Like I knew him. Like I’d met him before. But I hadn’t. Had I? And then, he did something strange.

Three months ago, I learned of my Uncle's passing. We weren't particularly close but he left me one of his houses in the will. I was touched but just wanted to sell it off
I decided to travel across the country to live there until a sale was assured. My job just requires a laptop and phone so I was approved to work remotely for the time being. Unfortunately, my wife had to stay at her job so I had to come alone
At first, I treated it as a mini-vacation. I had hoped it would only last a week but the process was more involved than I thought. I had a realtor taking care of most things but, after a month, I'm still here.
I noticed things going wrong right away. Stuff was never where I last placed it. I'd see shadows out of the corner of my eye. I've lose track of time constantly.
I thought it was caused by stress. Loneliness. Except for the few times the Realtor came by with prospective buyers, the house was the quietest place I had ever been in.
Before I completely lost my mind, the neighbor came by with a dog. She was an elderly woman who explained that she had been dog-sitting while my Uncle was in the hospital. Now that I was here, she thought I should take Buster, the golden retriever.

While I was at my husband’s office party, I realized his secretary's son looks very familiar. Almost identical to my husband.
I never liked these office parties. But as my husband's wife, I played my part. Smiled at his colleagues. Nodded at their stories. Held my wine glass just enough to seem engaged.
And then I saw him. A boy-maybe ten, standing near the buffet table. His mother, Diane, my husband's secretary, was deep in conversation with another employee, oblivious to the way ! was staring.
My stomach twisted. The shape of his nose. The arch of his eyebrows. The way his mouth curved slightly downwards.
It was all too familiar. Almost identical to my husband. I shook me head, forcing a polite
Smile when my husband walked by and squeezed my hand. I tried to dismiss the thought as ridiculous.

My neighbor’s daughter, Lily, vanished when she was 6 years old. No leads. No ransom. Just gone
Her parents never moved away, never stopped hoping. Then last night after 12 years their porch light flickered at 3:33 AM and Lily walked back inside she was wearing the same blue dre
She was wearing the same blue dress she disappeared in. Same white sneakers. No dirt. No aging.
She looked exactly like she did the day she went missing. Except for one thing her eyes. They weren’t Lily’s.
Her parents were sobbing, clinging to her, but something was off. Lily didn’t cry. Didn’t smile. She just whispered, ‘I told you I’d come back.’ But… she was six when she left. How could she have known she’d return?
I watched from my window as they led her inside. An hour later,
I saw movement upstairs, Lily, standing in the window of her old bedroom. She was staring at my house. Not at me, at my attic. The attic I never go into.
At midnight, there was a knock at my door.
Not the front door.
The attic door.
I finally worked up the nerve to go up there. Dust everywhere. Boxes untouched. Except for one thing.
In the center of the attic floor, in the dust, were fresh footprints.
Small. Barefoot. Leading to a locked trunk I didn’t recognize. The trunk was nailed shut.

A few years ago, my wife let me know she had been cheating on me for a few years off and on. This was devastating. We had been together for 18 years. Her primary grievance was that we weren't having enough s/××%. I tried to make it work, and we lasted 2 more years before we finally called it quits.
During a discussion near the end where we were talking about our relationship, and how it was falling apart, I suggested we see a couples' therapist. Even though we were both pretty well resolved in ending things, I felt it could change our situation from a 0% chance to a 1% chance.
We saw a therapist together a few times. As part of that process I got a brain scan to investigate why my libido might be lower than average. The scans revealed that a concussion early in life had left behind "evidence of moderate brain damage and possible atrophy". Luckily, the prognosis is OK. So far it's been alright, and I've been working with a doctor to try and treat it. No conclusions from the scan about my libido other than "brain damage might cause that". Some bloodwork showed a few more actionable things we've been working on, so that's good at least.

I finally met my ex-girlfriend who gave me a new life
A lot has happened in my life. I went to meet my ex-gf to tell her how much she changed my life. What she told me in return has shocked me too. Years ago, this woman had practically dismantIed me on the wrestIing mat, and I
I had to go home and cry. I needed a closure. So the very next day of writing my initial post, I sent her a facebook message telling her that I would love to meet up and this is nothing r*mantic. I owe her a small gift.
She got back saying... OMG it has been years and she would love to catch up but it would have to be Sunday morning.
First I thought I should take flowers but that has r**mantic connotations and I did not want to give her that impression. So I got her a female action figure. It was "Angel Dust" from D€ad Pool, played by Gina Carrano. I also made a card that read, *"Some superheroes do not know they are superheroes until their story is told to them by the people they have influenced. Without you I would be nothing."*

My girlfriend took a break from me and spent summer with another guy, so she could be sure
This was a pre-meditated decision in the spring of that year, we were both in college, and had been together for 6 years at that point. I was unaware but she had been conversing with a guy
guy in class. Feelings grew. She swore she never cheated or did anything physical or even met him outside of class but they did have a lot of text conversations for the months leading up to her revelation.
Just as the semester ended, she sat me down, and told me she was going to go stay with him for the summer. He had just finished school, and was moving to a new city and had an apartment lined up. She was going to stay with him for June and July, then return for our senior year. She offered me her phone and said I could read everything that was there (she wanted me to know she had not "cheated").

My girIfriend told me she was pregnant, So I had arranged to move all her stuff out behind her back

Showed me the positive pregnancy test. Thinking it was a TikTok prank, I played along. When she didn't reveal it was a prank, I knew what had happened, but I continued playing along.
That night, I got up at midnight and started sending emails. I took a week off work and emailed my best friends the details, telling them to pretend they knew nothing and be prepared. The next morning, I left for work as usual, but I didn't go to work. Carl, one of my friends, was waiting outside. He had a cap and a hoodie ready for me. The whole week, we followed Katie, and on day 3, she met up with her aff*air partner. We followed them to a motel, and then Carl followed him to his home. The guy was married with kids.

I kicked my mother-in-law out of the house on Christmas.
Hi, I'm writing here a bit to express. I was living with my wife, our kids, and my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law came to live with us 4 years ago, somewhat out of necessity. our cohabitation was okay, with the typical problems of a mother-in-law offering opinions and criticizing more than necessary, but we managed it fairly well overall.
During the Christmas celebrations, we got together with family. My parents, my brother, and one of my mother-in-law's sisters came. We had a great time together, no problems at all. When it was time for the children to open their presents, my mother-in-law made the comment: "I didn't like this Christmas, it doesn't make any sense, they should have done it like every year." Basically, some presents didn't have names on them, and they didn't magically appear under the tree, but rather in a room (my son was determined to "catch Santa this time," so we had to improvise a plan to not break the magic). I was quite annoyed by the comment, but I didn't want to ruin the moment by arguing, especially in front of the children.
