There's the smart pants start ups

and there's

the bootstrapper guerilla start ups.

The 1st group loves venture capitals, Angel investors that sorta thing. Celebrate when loan comes.

The 2nd group build from ground up w/ their cash. Celebrates when profit comes. The smart pants are usually ivy league college trained. Many come back to Naija to start a fintech coy or something in the line.

The bootstrapper gang are usually trained in copywriting, marketing especially Internet marketing.

A thread.

Enjoy. Aunty Sade is the neighbourhood grocer.

When you needed to do comprehensive grocery shopping, you head to her overflowing store.

Overflowing with both goods and humans.

Weeks ago, as my mentor @ronaldnzimora and I sat down discussing strategy (more like him schooling me) for a new business,

He said something that stuck to me and continues to resonate in my mind to this day:

"Marketing is the ultimate leverage." When I get calls and enquires from new entrepreneurs and wannabes on boosting sales on Instagram,

I almost instantly know the ones playing a losing game.

I've been there.

They think of and want to do the barest minimum to get by.

It doesn't work that way.
