🤖Excited to share a new working paper.🤖

The phrase "AI-Native firms" it everywhere, but are they any different? Is it just hype?

In our new paper we show AI ventures are organized differently, but not for the reasons you think. Image We argue that building a firm around AI isn't just about the *process* changes (e.g. using Cursor) but also involves a *product* channel whereby firms embed AI into what they sell which then changes how the firm should be organized.

NEW PAPER w/ Ruiqing Cao & Ramana Nanda!

We find that entrepreneurs launching tech products aimed at women experience less growth & investment.

Why? Sampling bias.

Early adopters in tech are 90% male which leads to distorted signals of potential and a product gender gap.🧵 Full paper here:

At the heart of our paper is the fact that entrepreneurs rely on "lean" product launches---often on platforms like Kickstarter and Product Hunt---to gain early users, test the viability of their ideas, and spur traction/investment.

@profhamel enjoyed the talk... especially the section on field experiments starting at minute 40!

There is an emerging community of b-school professors running *rigorous* and *relevant* management field experiments.

Tagging some papers below.

I hope it inspires some optimism. With @RonnieChatterji @shariqueorg and Solene Delecourt (@HarvardHBS @DukeFuqua @BerkeleyHaas) we have run RCTs looking on whether and when getting advice improves startup growth. Advice helps, especially for entrepreneurs with less training:
