13 year old Hope Fennell was hit on her bike by HGV driver Darren Foster. He climbed down, found her trapped under the wheels, but climbed back into his cab, leaving her to die as he deleted the text messages he had been sending as he drove.
Foster received a 6 month sentence. Image Lorraine Barrow was killed when Victoria Hamer hit her from behind in full daylight at "a minimum of 44mph" in a 30mph zone. Hamer received a suspended sentence and a 30 month ban.
Lorraine's husband Paul said the law has "gone too far in protecting the rights of the perpetrator" ImageImage

Muir David Taylor was driving over the Tamar bridge when he noticed someone legally riding a bicycle behind him. After initially stopping to tell him not to cycle on the bridge, he deliberately swerved across 2 lanes to knock him down, injuring him.

Barry Brettell (centre) was cycling with William "Roy" Higgins in bright sunshine at 10:15am. An HGV driver hit them both from behind at estimated 43mph, killing Barry & seriously injuring Roy. After claiming one rider "wobbled" as he passed, the driver was cleared of all charges Image Tom McConnachie on foot when he was hit by a car driven by Lewis Seaman in Plymouth. He was thrown 20 yards. He died of head injuries.
Seaman was drunk, and had no insurance. He drove off and set fire to his car. He was jailed for 10 months, and banned for 3 years 5 months. Image

Can I spread a bit of joy? Right on the edge of Deal in Kent is a village called Sholden. Someone in Sholden has four pet peacocks. I'd seen them occasionally on school runs.
With COVID lockdown, the peacocks have decided the town is theirs. They're roaming THE WHOLE TOWN daily. On Monday they invaded a local car repair garage.
