Myth: Kamala Harris sought to deny trans inmates gender affirmation surgery
Facts: False
Background: This references the case of two trans inmates in California State prison who sued the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
The two plaintiffs, Michelle Lael-Norsworhy and Shiloh Quine, were approved for gender affirmation surgery by prison doctors but CDCR denied their request saying hormone therapy was sufficient.
Myth: Kamala Harris locked up parents of truant children
Facts: False
Background: Kamala Harris became District Attorney for San Francisco in 2004 and in her book “The Truths We Hold” recalls the meetings with mothers who had lost sons to violence.
To start why does truancy even matter? Why did Harris focus on it?
For the purposes of this, truancy is defined as habitual and significant uneducated absenses; in some cases Harris’ office saw elementary and middle schoolers were missing 80 or 90 days of school.

Claim: Did Kamala Harris let Steve Mnuchin off the hook during the foreclosure crisis?
Answer: No, she did not.
Background; During the 2008 financial crisis Steve Mnuchin was CEO of OneWest; a national bank that was called a “foreclosure machine”.
It has been noted that OneWest stood out among other players in the crisis as a particularly aggressive bank when it came to foreclosing versus restructuring.
It is estimated that OneWest potentially foreclosed on 80,000 CA homes illegally.
I was feeling frustrated and felt compelled to make a video debunking this myth we’ll all heard that “we don’t know what Kamala Harris stands for”. We know what she stands for; her career has been built on standing up for children.
Harris started her career working on children’s issues and that continued throughout her work as DA, AG, and Senator. Now she’s out with the first comprehensive plan on children’s issues. That is what she stands for. That is WHO she stands for.
