The community has hurt itself by restrictively defining DAO to mean "a community group embracing the tyranny of structurelessness".

There's been a rather successful movement to discredit the efforts of any DAO with even a loosely centralized structure as "not being a real DAO". IMO, this is totally wrong. The "D" can just mean "decentralized governance via a permissionless token", it doesn't have to mean "chaotic loose web of individuals".

The "A" in DAO can just mean "some level of smart contract automation to help with high-level decision-making".

DAOs are here today. DAOs are a worldwide trend & an emerging part of the Ethereum ecosystem. It’s happening! DAOs are already enabling dense p2p networks of value exchange & participation.

During #GR8, we ran an a/b test on the default sort mechanism on the grants/ page.

We wanted to test whether @gitcoin platform has the great power (& great responsibility) to affect funding of grants via its discoverability & curation tools.👇 The a/b test was between two grant landing page sorting algorithms:

1. **weighted_shuffle** - every grant has a chance of being in top 10, which is equal to their `max(5000, current_match_amount)`
2. **random_shuffle** - every grant has an equal chance of being in top 10

Today I have a major decision to announce.

TLDR - We have identified an instance of collusion in the health round and are counting contributions we identify as colluding as being from the same account.

Next time we will have a more robust identity system.

Details 👇 2/ In the context of our new more experimental public health round, we found that 47% of contributions to a particular grant were funded by the same account.

We are taking action to change the mechanism that calculates the amounts for the health round & only the health round.

/1 The metric that people use for "activity" is layer 1 transactions per day/month. This is TOTALLY WRONG.

For the same reason you don't measure a web2 app by how many database writes it does, layer 1 transactions is NOT the right metric to measure dapp adoption.
