The BEA reported that light vehicle sales were at 15.34 million in June on a saar basis, this was down 1.7% from May. Light vehicle sales is a pretty good variable to gauge PCE on durable goods. The outcome for June is that real PCE on durable goods contracted by 0.4% from May, which absent revisions will translate to 4.6% q/q saar growth rate in Q2. Retail sales data for June released later this month will likely confirm this. Image
