Conversion Therapy Ban & Apostasy🧵
I understand that qualified organisations and lobbyists have to 'play nice' but I do not.
The CTB is straight out of the Denton's playbook which, in addition to using subterfuge to pass trans laws,
/1
also seeks to get 'trans' embedded into law anywhere it can to legitimise a delusional fantasy that people can cast magic spells ("I identify as...") to change sex or pretend their sex does not exist.

To Pronoun or Not to Pronoun 🧵
Normalisation
Was told this story just last night when visiting a mate. He works in a restaurant (chef) and they have cleaning tasks to do that are daily/weekly but this new start was doing a weekly task each day. My mate told him not to.
/1
"But I don't mind"
"But I do. If you start doing that every day, the boss will expect it every day. You might not mind being out of here an extra 10mns late, but I do."
But the young lad is keen, eager to please, so he keeps doing it on the days my mate is not in & guess what?

🧵Thoughts on the Increasing Violence at Women's Events
It's sad, but predictable that violence is increasing at the women's speaking events such as @StandingForXX and other general events.
This is to be expected. There is an increasing light being shone on the horrors
/1
of psychological and physical child abuse demanded by so called trans-rights activists and media are now less scared to show and tackle some of these issues.
The erroneously named TRAs are more realistically being renamed (variously) and seen as:

Absolutes and Political Expediency vs the GRA
🧵
Many that start on this GC journey do come with an expectation of being kind, treating people with respect, and not wanting to deliberately hurt others. There is nothing surprising about this as human beings are social animals.
/1
However, the more time spent here, with the more outrageous, scientifically illiterate, reality-denying nonsense and outright lies from queer enthusiasts that believe reality can be created/compromised by changing the dictionary definitions of words, leaves many exasperated,

Lying vs Not Speaking vs No Debate
--🧵
I missed this on my blog and may write it up properly, but this is just a thread on how to not tell the truth vs not speaking a lie.
Just "DON'T HEAR THE QUESTION".
/1
Politicians use this all the time, most famously was Matt Hancock when he was Health Secretary (UK) during the junior doctors long running pay & terms dispute. MH just decided to never appear for an interview with @Channel4News. A daily comment from the newsreaders was

If I, as a 50yo man said I want to read stories to some random children in the Library, people would (rightly) be instantly suspicious.
What are his reasons, what are his motives? Why does a totally random guy want to read to my children in the library?
/1
What are his qualifications?
Were I a published children's author, that would make sense. Were I a poet or bard and this was my career, that would make sense. Were this a creative writing workshop, that would make sense.
But do you know what does not make sense?

I want to tell you about my friend Donna (@MissBabbington) and what she does and has done for me.
(She doesn't know this)
Two halve, backstory, then now.
I was in a relationship where my GF had a phobia of all flying things.
/1
Now when I say phobia I do not mean the way it's bandied about cheaply on here.
What I mean is hyperventilating, sometimes frozen in terror, sometimes fleeing into shops or into road.
Now this made me very conscious of bees, wasps etc.

I try not to think of good things in life as anything more than serendipity (happy accident/luck find), but I randomly went into a charity shop looking at cheap paperbacks and someone was there, so I moved away and found a hardback section. It contained a book I bought at 17yo

And lost between divorce and house moves. At 17 I had my own gold plated Osmiroid Calligraphy pens and this book and shadow Calligraphy pen. All Xmas cards and posh invites done by my fair hand.

Be Kind
Be kind is a euphemism for STFU (Shut The F**K Up) and allow me to trample over your rights and continue to act illegally in respect of the Equality Act 2010.
But it's much more than that. When *demanding* that someone be kind,
/1
there is an implicit assumption that what you are currently doing is either "unkind" or in some way "cruel". In this respect it is designed to guilt the person into complying with something they either know is illegal; is an infringement of their rights;

I am a big fan of Dawkins but don't agree with all his thoughts on religion. I do not consider myself a 'militant atheist' but I do firmly believe in science and reality. However it is with some trepidation that I welcome his foray into the
/1
"biological reality of sex" vs "gender identity" debate.
Just today he posted something many people (predominantly women) have been saying for years and his reach will ensure it is widely understood as a countermeasure to "the meaning of words change all the time" fallacy

Understanding Transubstantiation🧵
---------
Defn: the changing of one substance into another substance whilst retaining the appearance of the first substance.
Let's take a example: If I have a copper 2 pence piece and I say some magic words over it such as:
/1
"abracadabra, you know identify as a £2 coin, shebang!".
Now it still looks like a 2p piece, but it has magically transubstantiated into a £2 coin.
So then I go into a shop and buy £2 worth of goods and because the shopkeeper also believes in magic (transubstantiation)

On Pronouns, Schools and Ties 🧵
Reposting this because I see it coming up a lot. Also Cannot find the original tweet anywhere? Is twitter playing silly buggers?
In the west of Scotland, it would be common to get asked what school you went to.
/1
Now this is nothing to do with schools, it is an oblique way of asking if you are Catholic or Protestant religion. This would determine how people reacted to you and whether or not to beat you up.
In The generation before me,
