You're not fat because you eat too much, you're fat because you eat the wrong foods...
(1/12)
Yes, eating too much of the wrong foods (ultra-processed foods) is doubly bad...
But it's the wrong foods that are CAUSING you to overeat, and therein lies the problem for many people.

What do the randomized controlled trials with seed oils in humans REALLY show when we look at them in detail?
Let’s briefly look at ALL eleven of them and see where this leaves us…
Thread ⬇️
𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐎𝐢𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 (𝐑𝐂𝐎𝐓) (𝐏𝐌𝐈𝐃:𝟏𝟒𝟐𝟖𝟖𝟏𝟎𝟓): 1965 - 2y follow up. 80 patients with ischaemic heart disease. 80g olive oil vs 80g corn oil per day vs control (diet as normal) .
Result: At two years, the proportion of patients remaining free of major cardiac events is greater for the control group (75%) than for the two oil groups (olive oil 57%, corn oil 52%).
Potential flaws: only the experimental group was instructed to avoid trans fats (TF), while the controlled group was believed to consume trans fat since it was given no advice on dietary fat. In spite of this, the group eating saturated fat had better cardiac outcomes than the experimental group.
TLDR: 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐄 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐜 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 despite control group likely consuming more TF.

Spinach
Oats
Almond butter
Seed oils
These “health” foods contain compounds that have been shown to worsen joint pain and arthritis…
See the research below⤵️
Oxalates - deplete sulfate levels in the body. Lower levels of sulfate can lead to weaker cartilaginous tissues, ligaments, tendons and bones.

These nutrients hold the KEY to LONGEVITY:
Taurine
Creatine
Anserine
Carnosine
Carnitine
Vitamin B12 and K2
There is only one food that contains all these nutrients.
Which is it?
Taurine, creatine, carnosine, and anserine

I have a lot of respect for vegans and vegetarians.
Making intentional choices about your diet and removing all processed foods are the first steps to radical health!
And don't forget that MANY essential nutrients for humans are only found in red meat..
Nutrients exclusively found in red meat have been shown to prevent cognitive decline, muscle loss, and fight against chronic diseases.
These are all major factors that reduce quality of life and shorten life span.
Red meat is essential for longevity.
Dietary creatine, taurine, carnosine, anserine and 4-hydroxyproline are beneficial for preventing chronic diseases in humans

Plant-based (vegan) arguments are well intentioned but they fall apart when considered carefully...
Farming plants on land leads to FAR greater loss of life than farming livestock on the same land, and the latter clearly provides a more nutrient-rich food for humans...
Factory farming of livestock isn't great, AND I would argue that industrial plant agriculture is even WORSE for the land from pesticide, water, and soil quality perspectives...
We rarely hear plant-based advocates discuss this point.

Mostly everything you've been told about nutrition is wrong:
-Red meat is GOOD for you
-Sugar is NOT bad for you
-Spinach is NOT a health food
-Oatmeal is the WORST breakfast
-Saturated fat is HEALTHY
-Seed oils (canola, sunflower etc.) are HORRIBLE
Red meat is GOOD for you.
Replacing grain based carbohydrates with 200g of red meat resulted in LOWER levels of inflammation in an 8 week interventional trial in humans.

French fries. You love them but they are probably one of the most addictive and weight gain promoting foods on the planet...
Potatoes by themselves appear to be quite satiating...
But when they are deep fried in seed oils (peanut, sunflower, safflower etc.) things go off the rails in terms of satiety...

If ApoB containing lipoproteins (LDL, VLDL, chylomicrons) cause atherosclerosis, then why don't we develop atherosclerosis in veins (and only in arteries)? @PeterAttiaMD
The same amount of ApoB circulates through the venous and arterial circulation, and the endothelium of these is the same.
If ApoB is inherently atherogenic, why don't we see atherosclerosis in the native venous circulation?

Stop drinking almond milk!
Here's why...
Many almond milks contain seed oils like canola, safflower or sunflower oils which are high in linoleic acid.
Linoleic acid is an omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid that accumulates in your cell membranes, raises oxLDL & Lp(a) and breaks down into harmful compounds like 4-HNE.
-Oats contain significant amounts of phytic acid, a molecule that chelates minerals and prevents their absorption.
-Most of this phytic acid survives cooking (though fermentation can degrade phytic acid).
tldr: oatmeal robs you of minerals

So let me get this straight...Covid is an illness that:
(Thread)
is much worse in the obese but we haven’t recommended people lose weight or think about diet...
...is much worse in people with low vitamin D but we were told to stay indoors and parks were closed...

Dogmatism has no place in free thinking. Challenge everything you think you know.
How much of what you think you know are you willing to question? How open-minded are you, really?
Despite the fact that I consider myself a part of the keto and carnivore communities, I continue to be disappointed by the amount of dogmatic thinking within these.

You know we have forgotten our ancestral past when olive oil is thought to be healthier than animal fat. 🤦♂️
News flash: Olive oil is a fairy tale. There's zero magic here. If you want real nutrition eat animals from nose to tail!

Animal-based diets, like a nose to tail carnivore diet, are about much more than food. They are a stepping stone to remembering where we have come from as humans.
Forgetting this history has led to myriad health and social ills today.
We no longer eat the way that our ancestors have, shunning the most treasured foods (animal organs and meat) in favor of survival foods like seeds, leaves, and even highly processed seed oils.

Hypertrophic adipocytes lead to metabolic dysfunction
4HNE (and other OxLAMs) lead to hypertrophic (vs hyperplastic) adipocytes.
Excess linoleic acid in the diet leads to increased production of 4HNE (& OxLAMs).
Translation: Linoleic acid makes you fat and sick. Get it?
Much deeper discussion of this in this week's podcast found here: heartandsoil.co/pages/podcasts

Seeds (nuts, seeds, grains, legumes) are some of the most highly defended parts of plants. Peanuts, cashews, almonds, and even your beloved macadamia nuts do not love you back!
And neither does Kale, but you knew that already! 🤣
In addition to being full of digestive enzyme inhibitors, lectins, phytates, and oxalates, many plant seeds are also quite high in linoleic acid, an omega-6 PUFA which appears to be signaling your fat cells to grow.
