According to Michael Wolff, in 2004, Epstein showed Trump a $36M Florida mansion that Epstein planned to buy. Trump went behind Epstein's back and bought the mansion for $40M, with a loan from Deutsche Bank. Trump then sold the home to a Russian for $96M. The Russian buyer was Putin-connected Dmitry Rybolovlev. Suspected money laundering. Trump going behind Epstein's back to outbid him on this property is the possible cause of the rift between Trump and Epstein.
