Here’s how I built the acoustic panels. They are bamboo plywood with a nice pattern milled into them. I got them surplus from a shop that made dozens for a commercial project. Each panel is 4ft square, 0.75” thick, and quite heavy. They were a little warped over time, and I wanted to add more sound isolating properties to them. So I bought and mitered 1in square aluminum tube. I lasercut L shaped acrylic parts to join the corners.

I just finished building my sound isolation panels to mount behind my desk, so I thought I’d share some pics of my setup for anyone who’s curious. I’ll share some more details over time in this thread too. First things first. I know it’s “hard mode” to place a desk in the middle of the room, but I hate every other option in this space. I also hate running wires across the floor so… Foolish man cut a hole into his floor.

I’ve been experimentally designing and building control surfaces.
Here’s an example playing with my kinetic chandelier @motusphera.

The top surface is CNC milled @coriandesign which is has a cold stone-like feel. The base is zebra wood. 👏🏻 @rickfillion for programming help! The ball is solid polished steel, with some good heft and momentum to it.

I’m working on a capacitive touch area to change modes. You can see it here toggle back and forth to a brightness adjustment. It uses the current selected color for that with a visible brightness wheel.

I’m thrilled to finally introduce you to Motusphera. A kinetic chandelier I designed and built.

100 stainless steel mirrored spheres suspended by nigh-invisible filament. Each sphere can be positioned with high-precision stepper motors to within 0.5mm

The base is clad in mirrored stainless steel with no visible screws or fixtures, and measures only 3½ inches thin.

The continuous square line of seamlessly diffused light is RGB+CW+WW LED, at a stunning 95+ CRI. Image

Finally installed the switchable film I bought for the front doors. Coming soon: HomeKit/Siri integration l. Since y’all are digging this, I’ll post some more information in a couple days on how it’s setup.
