When making calculations of energy source for EV power, the key figure to use is for CO2 emissions is kg/kWh.

According to BATAN (National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia, CFPP emissions for Banten, Indramayu, Rembang are about 1kg/kWh.

See numbers below for impact

Mercedes EQS vs S Class, MB EQE vs E Class, Motor Alva One vs Honda Beat.

Battery EQS is 108 KwH
Min Range is 770 km

1kg/KWH x 108 KwH / 770km = 140g/km

CO2 emissions of S class = 191 g/km

I’m also pro public transport, in fact I use a bicycle when I can.

The thread was never a question of public OR private, it was a question of realistic reduction of pollution via subsidies.

One key assumption was missing.

I'll share a few that I found striking in a short thread below.

Things like:
🧠 IQ reduction due to prenatal exposure to air pollution
🤧 6% productivity loss in manufacturing
🏃🏻33% increased risk of heart disease for those who exercise in pollution 🧠 Pregnant women exposed to air pollution gave birth to children who developed lower IQ.

2.5 IQ points lower for every 5 μg/m3 exposure of PM10 (not even PM2.5) during pregnancy.

Last week we launched a report called "Does exercising in Jakarta's air pollution impact our health?" which includes a deep-dive into the air quality in Jabodetabek from 4-9AM when most people exercise.

Here's some of the things we found

👇👇👇👇 Overall, The cost of air pollution in Jakarta is large, but what's more concerning is a general lack of data on health impact. The last available data was from 2010, nearly 10 years ago.

This posed a challenge for us - how do we correlate the air quality with health risk?
