New California Supreme Court ruling re: employer liability for contraction of infectious diseases is problematic and concerning. Court rules that workers contracting COVID-19 from co-workers can't sue employers unless intentional or fraudulent negligence is found [1]. However, in contrast, employers were held liable for asbestos exposure to workers' families in a 2023 ruling [2]. This contradiction between asbestos and infectious diseases such as COVID-19 highlights the inconsistent nature of employer liability laws.
