Time for an unpopular opinion. The ‘pingdemic’ is a real thing, it’s a consequence of our vaccination success, and it’s only going to get worse.

We’re at the point now - or at least soon will be - where isolating all contacts of a given case just doesn’t make sense. (1/n) Fundamentally, a large proportion of the population are now immune, either by infection or vaccination.

That means each individual contact is much lower risk.

We know this because society is much more open than it was in November, and yet the R value is about the same.

Right, the final version of record is out, so it's time for a tweetorial on this paper

(tagging in @PaulNuki and @sneweyy as requested) This all started back in March, when the first reports from China came out suggesting that blood type has an influence on your risk of getting Covid19

Here's the latest preprint from my lab. It's taken us a good few years to develop the methods to do this one properly, but I'm really pleased with the story we were able to assemble.. So, with your indulgence, here's the Twitter version of the paper. (1/n) The story (as with all research) goes back a long way, to some curious observations in the early 90s. At this time, a couple of different groups independently identified mutant strains of mice with a biased sex ratio.
