Clarification from Home Office that the £38,000 income threshold for UK citizens wishing to bring a spouse applies to "the income from the UK-based partner" NOT joint income. Household bills capped at no more than £2,500 for two years from October 1. With green levies (£150) and existing £400 grant removed will bring bills close to existing price cap Businesses to receive "equivalent support" for six months, with a review after three months "ongoing focused support" for vulnerable industries beyond that. Expect business groups to point out that time frame will limit the appetite for investment

Past performance does not give cause for confidence in the vaccine program, but in the NHS & GP network there is cause for optimism. It could not have been designed better for the purpose, certainly not by the champion consultants that gave us the £12bn Test & Trace fiasco 1/... 2/ As a health corr I spent eye-gouging hours listening to discussion of local bureaucracy, but that much-derided management time will now deliver millions of jabs to patients.
