Thread 🧵 on my latest story about the huge run-up in natural gas prices during a winter storm in February 2021. Oklahoma utility consumers are paying back billions in costs, and billions in interest, for the natural gas used during Winter Storm #Uri.
1/ Those costs are now on every customer bill in a separate storm-related charge for more than 20 years. Those monthly charges go to pay off the bonds sold on behalf of the utilities when they bought natural gas during the storm.
