Spoken like someone completely unaware of how social media operates. Bella Hadid, one of the primary spreaders of antisemitic libel on Instagram, has more followers twice over than the world’s entire Jewish population. Jeet’s ignorance may be generational. For instance, I learned recently that songs that are “tik tok songs” instantly *surge* on Spotify to crazy listening levels. Gen Z runs the show.

Not to state the obvious, but what do people expect? Vast swaths of the Arab and Muslim world have issues of deep antisemitism that pervade all echelons of society. Israel becomes a convenient projection for those sentiments. Same story for thousands of years. An inconvenient truth, but the truth. Look at any Pew poll and be shocked.

Regardless of what happens with the presidential election, this cycle of elections was a repudiation of the poisonous and divisive identity politics that have been the life-blood of the modern Left. It doesn't sell in lots of America, and that's a good thing. What does well in the NYT Opinion section does not do well in the rest of America. Latinos don't want to be called "Latinx." People don't want to immediately believe their neighbor is a racist because of his or her skin color.

To get a fuller picture beyond anecdotal experience, I’d recommend reading Allan Bloom’s The Closing of the American Mind. It’s not so much a curriculum problem as an ideological problem (moral relativism and the inability to identify objective truth/Good). There’s a reason the millennial generation now uses such silly nomenclature as “my truth.” Where did this come from?

One thing that separates the left and the right at this point is that most of right-wing twitter is horrified to watch the homes of lefty politicians get destroyed. Can’t say the same when the parties are reversed. That’s emblematic of a much larger problem. /1 In other words, there’s still a level of tolerance on the right for opposing viewpoints, to the point that I don’t care if Ted Wheeler disagrees with me. His home is his home. His family is inside. I can feel sympathy for him. /2

I said this a while back but going on the record now. I predict a Biden-Harris ticket. Biden will survive the Me-Too accusations because he already has. Look how quickly the media let them go. They’ve moved on.

Pause to consider that the same reason the anti-Semitic cartoon in the international New York Times made it past several editors is the same reason the Left loves Ilhan Omar. They don’t care about anti-Semitism. They condone it. Same reason AOC praised Jeremy Corbyn.

Have done a good amount of thinking about this confirmation circus. The Left has done something incredibly dangerous here—they’ve made questioning accusations equivalent to supporting the alleged crime. This is not how democracies work. This is how mobs work. /1 The pins, the shirts, the stickers—everything. The “I believe” isn’t about supporting victims of sexual assault. It’s about pigeoning anyone who believes in due process as some sort of condoner of rape.Politically useful? Sure. Socially deleterious and utterly reprehensible? Yep.
