Like many others, my experience of supporting Labour under Jeremy Corbyn has instilled in me a deep skepicism of the 'official' narrative.
We saw in such detail how our press twist and contort, omit or falsify in order to create an impression - their impression - of events. 1/5 They managed to make, in the eyes of the majority, a benign, lifelong peace campaigner into a unique and singular danger to the world, and once you've seen them achieve that, then it's hard to trust ANYTHING that you see or read from these major news outlets.

The greatest damage that 40 years of Thatcherism has done to the UK is to sell us a copy of the American Dream, which made a patriotic virtue of private ownership and private enterprise.

How else could they encourage us to buy shares in utilities we already owned?
1/
How else could they encourage us to buy up the socialised housing that gave us cheap, reliable tenancies, to remove that right from every generation that followed?

How else could they convince us that medical and non-medical services to our health service would 2/

As we've edged closer to 'Starmer era' Labour we've seen this phenomenon gradually ramping up.

That is, attempts to erase centrists from the history of the last 5 years. To portray them as neutral bysyanders in a time of chaos.

But we won't forget...

1/13 We won't forget the tangible sense of panic that swept across the liberal press when the first leadership poll dropped in 2015.

We won't forget the parade of 'sensible' voices who, one by one beittled our opinions and told us we needed heart (or brain) transplants.

Leftists asking for evidence of antisemitism in Labour are usually met with disapproving tuts and shakes of the head but, surely it's reasonable in any situation for a need to both qualify snd quantify any accusations.
1/9
The accusers know that the number of actual proven instances of a/s are vanishingly small. Labour know this too, but won't say so, because they will be accused of 'minimising' the situation.

Rant thread incoming:

Not entirely sure why this fucks me off as much as it does. Maybe it's the artificial subversiveness, or the mild middle-class playground profanity.

Maybe it's just the sheer, utter pointlessness of it.

But.... 1/12 Here we are. Dragged out of the EU with few, if any guarantees or safeguards, and the old PV/FBPE crowd are loving 'secret' messages hidden in fucking puzzles.

This falls into the category of the Queen 'throwing shade' by wearing a hat or carrying a fucking handbag.

Caroline Lucas' fantasy female cabinet reveals far more about the state of politics in the UK than she ever intended.
Rolling together the various strands of exclusion inherent in her proposal (no men, no BAME, no Working Class, no left wingers), we get to the heart of things 1/ It's like that table in the school canteen. The one that only the 'real' people could sit at.
The ones who mattered with the right fashions, the right parents and the right opinions.
They didn't look down on everyone else, they just acted as though nobody else existed 2/

George is just one amongst a great many who will feel relieved and personally vindicated if @DerbyChrisW is expelled from @UKLabour by the NEC tomorrow.

But that relief will soon give way to the horror that they have doomed us all. Not least themselves....
1/7 If Williamson is expelled, not for antisemitism, but for 'cultural insensitivty', and for refusing to treat a/s accusations with due seriousness, then I fear that the precedent set will be strong enough to destroy the Corbyn Leadership, and if nessecarry, @UKLabour itself.

Thread.
Those of us positioned on the left of British politics have problems enough at the moment and can well do without tearing ourselves limb from limb...

However, we need to talk about the 'woke left'....

1/14 'Woke' is probably not the best description but 'soft left' is already taken. Ideologically, they're as hard-left as they come. They're kind of full-on radical, smash the state, 'literally a communist' types.
And that's a breath of fresh air....
