The term ‘neurodiversity’ has become popular and prevalent very quickly but the fact of the matter is that this is not a scientific term but a term created by and used by activists. It’s not a scientific term based on research. It’s a political term used by activists. Its a bit like ‘chemical imbalance.’ Which was a term created in the marketing departments of pharmaceutical companies and sounded scientific but was never an actual scientific term.

If you’re under-30 perhaps hard to appreciate how basic/lacking in variety the average British diet used to be until recently. In the 1980’s there wasn’t just a limited range of crisp flavours but a limited range of foods in general. Perhaps not unrelated, lower obesity rates too The 1980’s might be the last decade when the British ate a predominantly traditionally British diet before fast food from takeaways and processed food from supermarkets took over completely, and before salmonella and BSE scandals, etc, etc.

Pre-internet, British right-wing journalism was written for a national audience. Whereas the current click economy has an international/American audience and British right-wing journalism is following the economic incentives and tailoring its writing for that audience. Simon Heffer, to pluck one name at random, might have been incredibly pompous, but he was a serious writer and thinker at least. Whereas Matthew Goodwin’s Substack, on the other hand, is just pure clicky, own the libs, ragebait of no value whatsoever.

One possible inference to draw from 2nd gen British Africans having, in general, better life outcomes than 3rd/4th gen British Caribbeans is that the latter are doing worse precisely bc they have had more time to deeply assimilate/integrate into British culture. Which is worrying The critique of multiculturalism is that immigrants/newcomers should integrate into the host culture. But what are we asking them to integrate into exactly? Irreligiousness, atomisation, recreational drug and alcohol use and high rates of family breakdown? you can see the problem

I wrote a thing.

open.substack.com/pub/postlibera… Image It was the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, in May 2022, that initially prompted me to start writing this. As a a Brit you are immersed in American pop-culture to such an extent that aspects of American culture which are alien to our own really jar.

Nottingham Forest have won as many European Cups/Champions Leagues as all the clubs from the capital cities of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the RoI, Belgium, France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Russia, Austria, Switzerland, Germany & Italy combined. Here’s another one, the last time Man UTD won a league title without Ryan Giggs was 56 years ago & counting.

For all the hifalutin talk about various formations, tactics & on-field metrics by football-data-nerds, its Berlusconi (alongside Rupert Murdoch & Jean-Marc Bosman) who has done more to change football in the last 50yrs than anyone (& not necessarily in a good way either.) We have Berlusconi to thank/blame for the Champions League & the Champions League has changed the face of not just European football but also world football in general

A club owned by the UAE & managed by a Spaniard, with a German captain, a Brazilian goalkeeper, a Norwegian forward, a Belgium playmaker, Swiss, Portuguese & Dutch defenders, a Spanish DCM & a Portuguese winger, have won the European Cup. What a great night for English football. I don’t think that all European Cup winning sides should be like the ‘Lisbon lions’ (Celtic in 1967,) when all the players were born within a 10 mile radius of Celtic park, but Man City are at the other extreme, whereby levels of English influence are bordering on the homeopathic

If Inter beat Man City tonight then that will have to go down as one of the biggest upsets in a European Cup final ever. Liverpool beating Milan was a bit of an upset in 2005 & Steau Bucharest beating Barcelona in 1986 too, but Inter beating City might just top both of them. What a topsy-turvy world we live in when Inter Milan (Im not calling them Internazionale bc Im not Italian nor a footy-hipster,) one of THE biggest names in European football, are huge under-dogs to Manchester City.

Here’s the thing, the ppl who watch MOTD don’t watch it to see Gary Lineker, or Ian Wright, or any other ex-pro-turned-pundit, pontificate, they watch it to see the football. Lineker, & all the other ex-pro’s-turned-pundits, are expendable. They would be wiser to realise that. This is, in effect, how many people watch MOTD anyway (& have done so for some time) by watching it on the BBC iPlayer & fast-forwarding the post-match, studio-based analysis, in between the matches. I don’t need Alan Shearer or Danny Murphy to tell me what I have just seen.
