In the Hoysala temples, the frequent depiction of dancing Shaktis stands out, symbolizing dynamic creative energy. The dancing Shaktis, often more prominent than standing or sitting forms, reflect the Goddess's dynamic creative energy.

These sculptures align with the temple's role as a mandala, invoking cosmic energies through rituals and architectural design.

Hereʼs a detail thread on Natyashastra and itʼs connection with Hoysala. To understand the meaning and purpose of the Nātyaśāstra, it is crucial to place it within the traditional system of knowledge, the Śruti-Smṛti-Paramparā. This system contextualizes the Nātyaśāstra as part of the Gandharvaveda, linked to the Samaveda Saṃhitā.

“The temple was meant to dominate Thanjavur as Thanjavur dominated the rest of South India at the time: it was indeed the masterpiece of Rajarajaʼs ruleˮ  K.A Neelkanth Shastri

In the last one year, we have travelled the length and breadth of India to document the treasure of Bhartiya civilization.

One of the treasure was the Brihadesvara temple. Hereʼs a detailed thread on the history of this masterpiece! The Cholas were one of the greatest and most gifted of the dynasties which ruled in India; they held sway for a continuous period of about 430 years (a.d. 850-1280). In comparison, the Mauryas ruled only for about 137 years (b.c. 322-185), and the Guptas for about 223 years (a.d. 320-543). The Vijayanagara empire lasted for about 340 years (a.d. 1336-1676) with claim to greatness only for the first 200 years thereof, i.e., till a.d. 1565.

Ayodhya - It's Past - A Thread
1. The holiness of Ayodhya and it's identity as Rama's Birthplace was freely acknowledged in several persian works in the medieval era. Abul Fazl Allami (1551-1602), official historian of Akbar, noted that Ayodhya was regarded as a "sacred ground" and "on the ninth of the light half of the month of Chaitra a great religious festival is held." Rama was born, "in the city of Ayodhya ... esteemed one of the holiest places of antiquity" (Ai11-i Akbari lll: 334, 316-17). Image

On Feb 2, 1835, Thomas Macaulay's 'Minute on Indian Education' marked a pivotal moment in India's education history. Here’s a thread on how this document shaped the trajectory of education in colonial India. Image Before Macaulay, British education policy in India was profit-centric. The Charter Act of 1813 allocated funds for education, but a divide emerged on the language of instruction. Orientalists favored Indian languages; Macaulay, English. /1

A thread on the #10IndicFilms project. Might give insights, updates and answer some questions!

The contributions can be made on crowdkash.com/campaign/1023/….

Read on for more info about the project! 👇 (1/n) We need INR 70,00,000, to make 10 films.

Why 10 Films at once? Why not do one-one?

Doing just 1 film might cost 2x-3x, and still be myopic about the scope. Doing 10 at once means we can optimize costs & effort more efficiently. Every penny spent will be more productive. (2/n)
