I've read the speech after seeing this tweet and obviously it does no such thing. It makes the point that Ukraine is fighting for its independence and that Ireland once had to do the same, that is a matter of historical fact I assume this is the offending section ec.europa.eu/commission/pre…

Given this has been subject to some debate today, I don't think supporting Brexit makes you far-right, even if most people on far-right do support Brexit. However, I can say from personal experience that many pro-Brexit advocates (NB not ordinary Brexit voters) are extremists /1 I should specify what I mean by that. I don't mean that Brexit per se is extreme position, but many of those passionately in favour of it have made it centre piece of their political universe to the exclusion of factual evidence, competing perspectives and other considerations /2

1/ There have been several occasions on which people have categorically insisted that certain things in the EU universe are absolutely inviolable (no bailout clause, free movement, CAP, ECB buying bonds etc). This category now includes the Irish backstop 2/ In my experience, this isn't strictly true and it is possible to secure changes. However, these either come with very strict and painful conditions (i.e. the Eurozone bailouts) or they are underwhelming to those who want to see sweeping changes (see CAP, Cameron's FoM reforms)

I've read Nick Boles' Telegraph piece setting out his alternative Brexit blueprint (in short: Canada via Norway). Ideally I've have also read the blueprint itself but the website doesn't appear to be working. Couple of thoughts telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/09/0… Firstly, good that some MPs are thinking creatively and credit to Boles for that. But the plan suffers from a great many flaws and illustrates extent to which even intelligent MPs still don't grasp fundamentals of Brexit, or appreciate how the EU functions more broadly
