There is an experiment in psychology, where you put a child in a room on their own, with a piece of chocolate. You tell them that if they don't eat the chocolate, then in 10 minutes time, they can have two pieces of chocolate. Small reward now, or big reward later 1/n It's often used as part of a discussion about ADHD, and impulse control.

It's a classic experiment and it's talked about in a lot of different books about various topics. And right now, we are watching that experiment. Live. Only it's not a child and chocolate, 2/n

Have had a couple of questions re my 27 part thread on VAT changes. So let's do a quick FAQ:

1/n
"So should I stock up on Arduino's etc... now?"

No, not really. If you buy from aliexpress, amazon, ebay, etc... then you don't really need to worry, prices will go up ~20% on 1st of July. The VAT is collected everyone is happy. However, there are edge cases: 2/n

There seems to be a few tweets about the new VAT rules for the UK from 1st of Jan, and how that effects companies outside the UK selling to UK residents. Particularly with regard to foreign businesses having to register for VAT. Buckle up, it's time to talk tax law. 1/n People have pointed fingers and said the UK is being stupid here, & that it's going to cause small businesses to stop selling to the UK. etc...But do you know what. This is actually an EU thing. Those of you in the EEA, you may wanna put the popcorn down, this effects you too 2/n
